Behind my ear. It hurts sad

Lancing a boil must be a 'thing' because it's a saying, right?

So; TCP, sterilised sewing needle, puncture both sides??

jendot2 Sat 04-Jul-15 17:21:23

I find boils don't go away until they have been lanced, popped, squeezed whatever. Clean hands, sterilised needle. Lots of TCP. Hurts like hell at the time but so much better afterwards!

Get it really hot first and have a supply of hot water available to continue to draw it out.

Yes, sterilised needle, clean the area, hot flannel on the boil then prick with needle and squeeeeeeze.

Where are you? I'll come and do it if you're local.

No no no. You are doing it all wrong.

First. Sound the <<KLAXON>>

Second. Take photographs.

elderfloweriver Sat 04-Jul-15 17:25:59

Yes please video it I love stuff like this

FadedRed Sat 04-Jul-15 17:27:21

I'm with Hooked on this.
You are spoiling the experience for the rest of us, OP.

<runs in>

Did someone sound the Klaxon?

Oh, a boil! Lovely! You need hot flannels, a sterile needle and magnesium sulphate paste and a video camera

Marcelinewhyareyousomean Sat 04-Jul-15 17:28:38

There was a recommendation for a plaster that would draw out a boil overnight. I think it had silver nitrate in it.

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis Sat 04-Jul-15 17:28:47

Ooo a boil. Lovely, oh I mean poor you op. The secret is a kind of pulling apart whilst squeezing movement. You have mag sulphed to get maximum splattage I assume? and set up the lights and tripod

FernGullysWoollyPully Sat 04-Jul-15 17:29:07

Get a friend to film it help you.

HookedOnHooking Sat 04-Jul-15 17:29:37

Only once we have seen photos can we advise.

Mag sulph paste.
Milk bottle.

The options are wndless...

I'm not sure that 10 days of magnesium sulphate paste (as per MN recommendation) has achieved anything. Hard to tell though, what with it being behind my own ear.

MaggieJoyBlunt Sat 04-Jul-15 17:37:05

Milk bottle!? How? What?

Sorry. I usually run from the Klaxon, being weak of stomach, so I'm not up on the etiquette smile

Kundry Sat 04-Jul-15 17:38:48

It will need to be properly wobbly or with a yellow head on it for you to be able to lance it.

OhEmGeee Sat 04-Jul-15 17:39:17

We need photos. Now.

MaggieJoyBlunt Sat 04-Jul-15 17:40:50

I just told DH that I needed him to photograph my boil so that MN could see it.

He's giving excellent hmm face.

Gileswithachainsaw Sat 04-Jul-15 17:48:50

he just doesn't understand

FirstWeTakeManhattan Sat 04-Jul-15 17:56:03

My DS is currently sporting a boil on his tummy. Won't let me near it. It's so ready.

CardinalRed Sat 04-Jul-15 18:04:51

That's a head at the top, isn't it?
Will DH give it a squeeze?
