Not seen my boyfriend for 2 weeks and have a big night planned tonight and lo and behold AF makes a big fat appearance. Four days early Hmm

Sometimes being a woman just sucks! There is zero point to my thread other than to whinge!

You have my sympathy. Last October I booked a lovely hotel for our wedding anniversary, the first child free night for years and AF appeared on the journey there, also 4 days early. It really does suck!

AF knows when would be the WORST time to arrive. And then deliberately plots against you to make sure it is there for exactly when you want it least.

Biological fact.

I was due to be on for my summer holiday this year so I went and got a prescription of Norethisterone to cover the entire 3 weeks. Unusually, AF arrived early, meaning I was finished by the holiday and didn't need the tablets. This means I have a supply to delay my period for a few days should I need it. Which meant AF couldn't surprise me at Christmas :o

It's awful. DH and I went away last weekend for three child free nights.... AF struck on the flight.

I loathe it.

She's a right bitch when she wants to be. Been sick for 2 weeks, every symptom under the sun thought to myself how could this be any worse and of course AF shows up over a week early. I cried.

Also I love you people, in real life I get weird looks for calling her Aunt Flo. Even had to explain it a few times.

SoupDragon were there any special circumstances for getting that medicine? Can anyone do that?

I was due on, and came on, on my birthday (end of Nov) and then, of course, 28 days later on xmas eve night. Lovely. Not.

At least i've nothing special planned for the end of this month!

No special circumstances whatsoever, beyond a holiday. I went to my GP the first time and explained that my very heavy period was due to arrive during my holiday and was there something I could take to stop it - I'd expected to get a short prescription for the pill or something. This worked like a dream so I went and asked again this year.

I had left overs from the time before too which lasted me two years of avoiding special or difficult occasions.

Having said that, I doubt they'd give you a prescription so you have a stock "just in case" though - you'd need a particular reason. A holiday is a good one. Conveniently, mine was due right at the start so I had a large supply of the tablets.

I tend to think that periods prove that God Our Creator (if he exists) is a man. No way would a woman have designed a female body like this.

Many years ago mine turned up mid-flight to Australia on my honeymoon - hormones & jet-lag...was feckin' marvellous!

Thank God for the Mirena coil is all I can add Grin.

Am I the only one imagining AnyFucker showing up at all these romantic occasions?

Ahhhhh, Aunt Flow! All this time I thought it was annoying friend. Thanks Kaos

Mirena coil
Haven't seen or heard of AF for 10 years except for twice on the two months between fittings. Which served to remind me why I don't need her in my life.

Right, I know this is probably terribly terribly terribly wrong and I am certainly not recommending this course of action but a few years ago I was desperate to halt AF in her tracks for a day or even just a few hours, I had some important reason to (can't remember now so maybe it wasn't as important as it felt at the time, I'm assuming it was man related...). I found some info online indicating that a slightly larger than usual dose of ibuprofen can slow her down. I tried it and it worked. I've used this method occasionally since then and it has been effective.

I'm absolutely not advising anyone to do this though, apparently it's not good for your stomach to take too much ibuprofen.

Bet AnyFucker is feeling the love?

Report
betweenmarchandmay · 23/01/2015 12:43

I think I am lucky as I never have any problems with mine and can honestly say they don't impede on my life at all.

SoupDragon · 23/01/2015 12:47

Mamushka a standard dose of ibuprofen taken regularly for a few days does the job nicely. I take it for a day before and the first 3 days of my period. No large doses required.

It's not AF in this house.
