to think that Norfolk isn't the only place you can holiday with Toddlers?

Seriously, I need a change but everybody I speak to seems to think that the north Norfolk coast is the ONLY (vaguely northern) place to go and have a good time on holiday with Toddlers. Can anybody help or am I going to have to go to the bloody overpriced and not that nice Sandringham café twice again this summer (once on the way and once on the way home)?!

I've got 2 preschool children and I've never been to Norfolk. (well, once, but not for a holiday).

I'm southern not northern but we manage quite nicely with Somerset, Devon, Peak district and Lake district, all of which have enough going on to entertain little ones for a few days.

Yanbu and I love Norfolk! We found Ibiza a pretty amazing place with a toddler but then I find flights with kids easier than drives.

We live in Norfolk and so have never been on holiday here.

If having a UK holiday we either go to Center Parcs (one in Suffolk quite near us) or to Devon.

I prefer foreign holidays though.

we went to the north coast of Scotland when we had toddlers (we live in Norfolk !).

Don't see why you can't take toddlers to anywhere (although for me not a city).

We're thinking about Norfolk for this year as it happens... or Suffolk.

Norfolk isn't in the north...

North east: beamish museum is fab, Newcastle has lots of stuff for toddlers : discovery museum / Hancock / Baltic are free; centre for life not free but excellent. Ditto seven stories children's books museum. Beaches on your doorstep, city beach in Newcastle on the summer.

South Shields beach is big and long, next to a rEally good park with a train ride in it.

Head to the north

Please come to Wales. It's got gorgeous beaches and reasonable priced cafes.

I agree, Norfolk definitely isn't North. I consider myself to be very much a southerner....

I like Norfolk ( although it's certainly " the South as far as we are concerned)
I also like Northumberland and North Wales

Yes, I take your various points about north/south comment! I actually live in the 'proper north', what I was trying to get at was that I don't want to travel as far as the popular (very) southern holiday destinations of Cornwall/Devon etc

Where abouts do you go that you don't like? North west norfolk is divine. Why on earth would you go to the Sandringham cafe??! (genuinely confused!)

holidays with toddlers we have enjoyed:
Farm stay UK....loved it!
Northumberland fab beaches...watch out for the wind
Lakes....low level walking round the big lakes and fab cafe's though need good waterproofs!
New forest: ponies and pooh sticks, cafes, beaches to drive to
South coast: southbourne, Bournemouth both great for families
Eastbourne...take a mini scooter for the seafront, airshow and bands on the prom, also south downs for a windy walk and one of those simple kites that pack in a pocket.
Gower coast for beaches and cliff top walks
Isle of Wight...old fashioned fun

toddlers grown to children and teens now...still doing the same things more or less

I find it amazing and to be honest sad , that you consider Norfolk to be North !
Great Britain is not a huge country , but it's really sad that many ( not all) 'southerners ' have such an insular view.
There are many beautiful places in Britain if they would only look beyond the end of their nose .

I've enjoyed all my Norfolk hols Pengyquin, it's just we seem to go to the same places every year and I would like a change. As for the Sandringham café, that's my husband's fault (he likes old houses!) Out of interest though, where would be the place you would recommend in north west Norfolk? We normally stay north central, maybe that's where I'm going wrong?!

I think Pembrokeshire is (possibly) the most beautiful part of the UK.

squoosh, it's because East Anglia has quite a reliably temperate climate, good beaches and plenty of things to do with children.

I live in Yorkshire skinoncustard so it's not that I'm being insular, it's just that I spend all of my time in the north so would like to holiday somewhere different, and Norfolk is the most northern of the holiday destinations I have considered!

Yes squoosh I agree, I love Solva/St David's in particular. Bloody awful to get to though!

I've got a 4yo and a 2yo and have never been on holiday to Norfolk. We take them to a lovely campsite in Snowdonia mostly, the Isle of Wight and places around the Peak District and Cannock Chase Forest in Staffordshire.
