With a new bastard mirena?

I'm also thinking that the mirena's contraceptive effectiveness is due to not wanting any sex at all because of the constant bastard bleeding.

I am not enjoying it at all.

Yes I felt like that. I had it removed. How long since it was fitted?

Only 5 weeks. Bleeding constantly for last 4. Not loads but enough to need a pad. Can't use mooncup as it hurts.

Bastard.

I bled for the guts of 3 solid months with mine, was totally miserable and eventually got it out 6 months after I got it in. Hated it, although I do know some people that it has worked brilliantly for.

I found the same thing - I bled continously. GP was reluctant to remove it, as she said it would settle. I think I managed about 4 months, with a month on the pill aswell, to try and sort the bleeding before I finally gave up with it.
The mirena made me feel bloated and generally grim- I was so pleased when it came out.
Shame though, as I know it works so well for so many women.

I'm also achy crampy in the evenings.

I hsve until May to decide to keep it or have the uterus out.

I think it was about two months for me. It was very tedious.

But since then no periods, which has been lovely!

I bled enough to feel dirty for 10months. After that no periods for 4 years. Great. No sex either though as it feels psychological y wrong to me. Having it removed as soon as I can make an appointment.

Mine lasted for about 7 months. It was horrible. Ive had it for 18 months now . Still get some cramp and bleeding every month but nowhere as bad. I could more or less cope with the bleeding but it was the hair loss that i struggled/ still struggle with.

I gave up on mine about 8 weeks in. Bleeding, bloating and awful mood swings. Dp and I hadn't been together long and it was just miserable.
Much happier with copper coil Smile

10 months and even had the pill to try to stop it. Didn't fucking work. Nor-whatever-worked for a week, then I bled again. Kept getting fobbed off and finally had it out.

It's not even in there for contraception. It's there to try to stop evil pain. Which it has sort of (apart from the evening cramps).

So do I put up with constant bleeding? How long do I wait for it to stop?

I am a bit moody. Feel quite low at times. But is that just January blues or bastard hormones?

I bled for 4 weeks then went back to the doctor. He put me on the pill for a week then it stopped. I've had no periods for 10 years and I LOVE IT!

4 months. Not actual 'bleeding', just spotting. No period fort three years now and it's great. The periods I have had have lasted all of 16 hours.

I had spotting constantly for about five months. Then entirely period free. I'm on my second one now so no periods for over seven years. Love it.

I've had the same thing but with the Nexplanon implant.

Luckily neither of us are clean freaks or it would be very effective contraception indeed.

After about nine or ten months of bleeding and a hefty weight gain I had mine taken out. I eventually had a hysterectomy and am delighted to be period free.

Am I a wuss for just wanting it out now? Considering the next step is to have the uterus out?

Should I just put up with it for x many months?

I had spotting for about 3-4 months but since then I've had no periods at all. Tis bloody marvellous!

I initially bled for about a month, lightly though. Then nothing. It's been in for 3 years now and over the last 6 months the light bleeding has returned, in fact it's more of a discharge. It's annoying because I went for a smear last week and all she could swab was gunk so I have to go through it again but tbh I think it will just be the same. Nurse said sometimes the downturn in the hormone can cause the breakthrough and it may be time to remove it.

Mine took six months to settle down Hmm

Had it taken out for other reasons but it does stop your periods completely which was great!

Bled most days for about 6 weeks (very light) and then about 25% of days (very very light!) for another 6 weeks. Now no periods for nearly a year. Also no sex but can't blame that on the mirena :)

For the first three weeks I just wanted it out. I had constant cramps which felt like I'd been kicked in the belly & I bled constantly. Then it slowed down to just a bit of spotting for a few more weeks. Since then, nothing. No periods at all now for four years. It's changed my life. I was peri-menopausal and my cycle had gone haywire. Apparently I can keep it in for seven years because of the age I was when I had it put it, so it should see me through to the other side of the menopause.

I had a hysterectomy (kept my ovaries) and I swear it was less painful than the mirena. I had it done vaginally so no big cut, I was in hospital for 2 nights and the pain was never awful.
