Dd is obsessed with her, I've just watched her latest video and its full of all these pricey beauty products that she raves about. Like one big long advert. She gets away with it by being all cute and smiley, but grrr she's annoying and unethical.

I know I'm not the target audience but I can't bear her and Tanya bloody Burr and Lily Pebbles and Fleur and the rest of them. All of their videos are sponsored these days and full of shite they're being paid to say they love.

It's started to creep into Pixiwoos videos too.

There are still some beauty youtubers I love but they're few and far between.

I've just reqched the end of her latest advert, last product was a fucking Jo Malone green tomatoe leaf candle!

Its just all shit.

Want good skin, best advice is to drink lots of water, eat fresh unprocessed foods and exercise.

It is how it goes.

Youtuber is charming, original and of independent thought. She is not held to account by any company, so her reviews are genuine. Big business discovers her and pays big bucks. Now it is worthless. The end.

Same with nerf gun reviews by boys!

It is something you can explain to your kids. My 12 yr old gets it. (In theory! But nothing is as persuasive as a peer review)

Saying that doesn't buy them a fancy flat and £150 workout leggings though Grin (seriously, one of them posted a link to her gym leggings and I almost fainted at the £££).

I love makeup and skincare and am happy to spend on the right stuff but I hate the manipulation these alleged "gurus" employ to line their own pockets.

EssieButton is another one who gives me the rage. Grrr Angry .

I have absolutly no idea who these people are! Who are they?

boody they are makeup and lifestyle bloggers who have incredibly popular YT channels.

Ah, but what about Zoella saying she wrote her book all by herself then turns out she had a ghostwriter? That's just as bad - or worse! DD loves her too. Sigh.

God I'm watching another of her videos, he essential s for a school bag are hairspray, deodorant, mini perfume samples, hand sanitisers, hand cream, chewing gum or mints, mini brush, tissues, wet wipes, dry shampoo, powder, lip gloss, conceler, lip balm, hair bands, hair grips and a fucking makup bag! All of these in your school bag?!

Yanbu. I know it's a free country, people don't have to watch etc but the target audience for many of these vloggers/youtubers are teenage or younger.

Hawking high end beauty products to that age group is awful.

It seems unethical and exploitative.

Meh.

I watched one video and found her so patronising.

I prefer Carli Bybel. Same age as myself, and she does drug store products as well as high end.

I've been thinking about this recently. I am curious do the ASA not cover you tube?

Isn't it just same as magazines giving favourable reviews to their advertisers' products. Not exactly impartial, I agree, but not new.

I like Fleur but can't bear any of the gleam lot. At least now though they do have to say it is an advert if they are being paid for it.

Still very little disclosure on freebies though. Same as with blogs.

I just treat all of them as one big advert but appreciate that younger children/teenagers don't realise that.

I think ASA are beginning to crack down.

I overheard this one too (dd is 14) and was surprised that someone so young needs so many products. Dd liked the Urban Decay pallette in the video so I bought her the W7 copycat version for around a fiver!

ASA introduced new regulations re vlogs - hence many now say 'blah blah blah - ad'.

Of course some of the fans thought that referred to advent rather than it being an advert.

It is all still fairly new though so guess will take ASA and HMRC time to catch up.

I reserve my real loathing though for the ones who feature their children and use them to make money. Seems very unethical to me.

There was a video Pixiwoo did just before Christmas where one of them got their daughter (about 11 yr old I think) to come on and talk about what children her age wanted for Christmas.

Apparently all the kids her age wanted Zoella stuff. Of course they did Hmm.

The SacconeJoly's by any chance?

She's becoming an ambassador for Mind because she's spoken about having anxiety in the past. That doesn't sit right with me. Yes, she's brave for talking about it, but she's basically just a make up salesperson, flogging a lifestyle that most teenagers can never have.

Plus, yes, she is incredibly annoying and seems to always be popping up on my youtube ads. 'Hi guuuuuuys!' Agh! Just let me watch my damn video.

They all annoy the hell out of me and I used to watch them a lot. And what the hell is it with all the haul videos? YOU GET SENT STUFF FOR FREE Angry

For make up videos and reviews I recommend a youtuber called ThriftThick. She's funny and smart and her videos are very informative. Definitely not sponsored!

I usually watch saconejolleys but they piss me off. If you stand back and take a look at what your actually watching, a dysfunctional family who don't work and video utter crap all day. And I'm the fucking mug watching them and contributing to their lifestyle! The fact that Anna doesn't seem to be able to drive without having a nervous breakdown is just stupid. Man up ffs.

I like itsjudyslife.
