Not to want to eat Xmas day leftovers today?

Went to my mums for lunch, all very nice. She had some trifle and Black Forest Gateau left over from Xmas day, I politely declined. I would eat it 1 or maybe 2 days later but no more. Was I BU? How long do you keep and then eat leftovers? Or does it depend what it is?

Why would how long it is after Christmas Day matter? Surely the relevant date is when it was made?

We had leftover Pork and Turkey left over from Christmas Day, we ate it at 93.4c today, it was blooming lovely.

AmserGwin I only keep left-overs for ONE day, I'd never eat something that is 3 days old, so you are certainly not being unreasonable.

I don't get what's so magic about trifle which means it becomes "left overs" the moment anyone puts a spoon in it.

No, I don't even want to eat them on Boxing Day. We try and make sure we don't have much in the way of leftovers. Hygiene wise no issue though, just don't fancy any of it.

Normal cake is different, I know that keep longer. This was trifle and Gateau with cream. We sell fresh cream cakes in the shop where I work, we are only allowed to sell them on the day they come in and the rest is thrown at the end of the day!
I know they would be fine to eat the next day, but not 2/3 days later.

The Xmas cake would have a very long life and doesn't contain dairy. That's the difference. I wouldn't have eaten it either.
