AIBU?

To ask for a refund from the school fair for a tardy Santa?

We nt to school christmas fair today and needed to get away for 630pm with 2 kids . Our pre booked prepaid for appointment with Santa didn't happen as he was running 30 mins over so when we turned up at our allotted time of 6.03 there was a massive queue and chief elf said that he was running late and the 5.27 appointment was just going in. There were lots of bedraggled children and withered parents so I thought it rude to just ask for the gift and go . Had to break news to kids that Santa wasn't going to happen and we had to go. Had already spent 1.5 hrs at fair and was trying to carry armfuls of tat acquired and was definitely about 20 quid lighter . On the way out with wailing kids I left a note for the school secretary to ask if we could either get the present in class tomorrow or be refunded for the 5 quid I had to pay to book an appointment. I'm not sure if this is in the christmas spirit AIBU? I do often help out these kind of events and bake lots of buns etc which you then have to buy back so I'm not a total grabber but feel entitled for my kids to at least get the enormous tube of smarties wrapped up that I paid for ??

I think if you can run it better, you'd be more than welcome to do so next year.

Ouch hilly ! Op I'm sure they will be able to give you the gift tomorrow. Such a shame your kids missed their slot but I'd say it's near impossible to run these things to time

If you had the actual Santa in there then YANBU - it's his job to get everyone's presents delivered with impeccable timing.

If it was someone's dad/granddad/husband who had been talked in to doing it because the suit in the PTA cupboard was roughly their size - cut them some slack.

To ask for your DCs Smarties is fine, to ask for your money back is not IMHO. Did you choose 6.03pm or was that the time allocated without option to go in earlier?

Well you didn't get to meet Santa so I don't see why you shouldn't be refunded.

YABU. You'll get the sweets.

Santa gets really busy this time of year you know. If he can't be on time at Harrods he won't be on time anywhere.

The money goes to the school. Unless it's your last fiver relax with all the ba humbug stuff.

I think it would be a bit tight to ask for the money back, but you should definitely get the sweets. If they don't give you the sweets, then it's fair for you to expect your money back.
