To wear my son's happy to bed?

You know that one night a month where your period is extra heavy - well sanitary towels never q worked for me and were prone to leakage. Until one night I had to improvise as I had run out of towels, so used my son's nappy inside my pants. No leaking at all. It is amazing. Have used it on that one annoying night for the last few months. But my husband does have to see it as I get into and out of bed. AIBU? And this is not a thread about a thread. Coincidence.

Nappy not happy

Sounds amazing, if I had kids I'd seriously consider it. Nothing like waking in the night to that nasty realisation that your pants/pjs/bed needs changing.

I do this too.

You must have a tiny bottom.

Sounds good to me. We don't have any nappies around atm, but I'm almost tempted to buy some for the very purpose.
I try two or three extra massive towels, but nothing ever seems to stop the flooding on, as you say, that one night when it's heavy.

I hate periods - what a shit design is that eh? What a mess.

Would a maternity pad work? Maybe more absorbency without using the nappy?

StillaChocoholic Wed 30-Jul-14 20:39:03

You can get adult nappies.

Squtternutbaush Wed 30-Jul-14 20:39:03

Couldn't you open the nappy out and place it inside your knickers to hide it?

Sorry but my DP has seen me in various states but I'd feel like I've hung up my dignity (although DP would probably find it amusing grin), this is however one of the reasons I love my cloth towels as it means I never run out grin

dashoflime Wed 30-Jul-14 20:44:00

I've done this! As an improvisation when I ran out of towels. Flattened out inside my knickers though- not actually taped on me like a nappy!
When I had to dispose of it i got all paranoid that someone would somehow find it and assume a horrific child killing had taken place, then track me down through DNA period blood testing and i would have to explain the entire sordid story to police, in a strip lit interrogation room, at midnight.
none of that happened btw and it really was very absorbant.

Happydaysatlastforthebody Wed 30-Jul-14 20:52:51

Why not op.

Dashoflime that's funny grin.

TaliZorahVasNormandy Wed 30-Jul-14 20:57:14

This is why they should invent special period knickers with that bit of nappy where it counts. I leak because the pads never stay still.

JustSquirted Wed 30-Jul-14 20:59:16

Dash grin

Get some tranexamic acid from the dr. Totally stops the flooding, it's brilliant.

mrsleomcgary Wed 30-Jul-14 20:59:17

That's bloody genius op, cant believe i've never thought of that!

maggiethemagpie Wed 30-Jul-14 21:00:27

You can get nappies for older kids, I think up to 11/12, I'm sure they'd fit a smallish woman

BoneyBackJefferson Wed 30-Jul-14 21:11:06

If you are serious you could look up incontinence products.

Candustpleasefuckoff Wed 30-Jul-14 21:37:51

Yes I flatten it out and secure it in place with my knickers

BettyBolognese Wed 30-Jul-14 21:44:08

^ this!

gamerchick Wed 30-Jul-14 21:48:01

I use incontinence knickers sometimes for bed.. I used them when I had babies as well. Put them on like knickers and take them off when finished with.

I've used nappies as well in the past.

Sometimes needs must grin

Candustpleasefuckoff Wed 30-Jul-14 21:55:13

Your bottom doesn't need to be small, after all, a nappy is far larger than a sanitary towel. You use it like you would a sanitary towel.

Egghead68 Wed 30-Jul-14 21:55:16

They don't make them large enough for my arse.

MysteriousCircusZebra Wed 30-Jul-14 21:56:21

I've done this when dc were in nappies. It works really well!

hugoagogo Wed 30-Jul-14 21:58:08

Someone has already invented those pants grin

Honestly it does sound like you should speak to your gp and see if there is anything that can be done to help with your very heavy periods.

Sparklypants Wed 30-Jul-14 21:58:51

Yep, been there done it!

jaynebxl Wed 30-Jul-14 22:02:00

I accidentally bought incontinence pads in France once and have never looked back for that special once a month night!
