Okay, I didn't know where to post this and I can't find chat on the MN app!
I have a box of fajita ingredients (you know where you get the spice mix, tortillas and sour cream).

The use by date on the top of the box is 26/02/14, the date on the tortillas is 23/4/14, the spice mix is the 5/5/2014 and the sour cream is 13/5/2014.

Would you use them??? Or, to be more thread friendly, WIBU to use them?? Grin

Use them. The date on the box makes no sense given the constituent parts.

You could also write a letter to the manufacturer about the confusing info. I did this once with a well known make of TexMex food when there was an insruction that made no sense and was in fact impossible to carry out. They sent me a postal order for a small amount (enough to have bought another packet)

So you can eat the tortillas, the sour cream and the spices. But don't eat the box, it's out of date. OK?

I believe it's a "best before" rather than a use by.

I would use them.

Okay I'm glad I'm NBU to use them! But will definitely not eat the box! Grin

You're fine to use the tortillas, the spice mix and the sour cream.

I ate it. It was the sour cream I was worried about, but as of yet (5 hours after consumption!) I am not ill!! I think we'll all be fine Grin

Heck I'd use them next year - in my defence I would probably bin the sour cream in 2015, but if it's the same stuff on the squeezy bottles, those things have really long shelf life's unopened and aren't in the fridge in the shop......

It was the fact that the box said the contents were out of date but the actual packets themselves said they were fine! A friend said it might be dodgy!
