AIBU?

Messy v organised. What are you?

AIBU to start a debate?

I am organised and file things and know where everything is.

My boss could enter an empty lift, go up three floors and leave a mess.

He accuses me of me being weird and controlling (in a nice way)

I argue that his disorganisation costs him thousands of pounds a year (in a narky I do the accounts sort of way)

Why? Why? Why? Would you toss an invoice on the floor/cluttered desk/shelf/lose it?

If you are like my boss please explain why. If you are like me are you weird or sensible?

By the way. I love my boss. He is wonderful and great but fecking messy!

I am organised but messy. Everything looks like a tip but I know where most things are within that mess as long as nobody tries to tidy it up!

Cos you just don't think. Or you toss it and think 'I must remember I've tossed that important thing over there.'

Both. Anyone looking would think there was a chaotic mess but I never lose anything and can put my hand on paperwork within seconds. What you are talking about is organised v. disorganised, not messy. Your boss is losing important documents. That is lack of organisation not untidiness.

I am organised and tidy, because at heart I'm quite lazy and like saving the time that messy people spend searching for things.

I'm ultra organised at work but can be very messy at home! Grin

I don't understand why you would be disorganised and messy. Not being able to find stuff is so stressful. Who needs that?

My mantra: don't put it down, put it away. I can't say i live by it 100% of the time, but the vast majority of the time I do, and it is stress reducing.

He can't help it that's just how he is.

I am pretty messy but am never late, never miss an appointment or forget anything to do with school.

I hate being messy though and I know that there is a very tidy person inside me trying to get out Grin!

Three: yes, that's a big part of it too! I am lazy, so don't need the stress & the time wasted looking fr stuff - I could be crocheting instead!

I am messy but force myself to be organised and tidy. On the surface I look very organised but I worry a lot.

Dh is naturally tidy. He takes his time at thing and never loses anything.

I love clean surfaces but chuck stuff in hidden places. Lose remote controls, chargers etc.

Less so now because I have cleared all junk so it's easier.

Hopelessly messy but rarely forget anything or do stuff wrong. Just not interested in tidying/housework.

He found a cheque the other day for over a thousand quid. It was 14 months old and therefore out of date.

I can walk blindfolded around my house and find anything I need from scissors to a torch to a plaster.

Organised, I hate mess.
I realised how bad I was when I was on bedrest during my last pregnancy. I nearly drove myself mad with not being able to tidy up.
I do realise how pathetic that sounds.

I am organised
I spent some time earlier re-organising all the items in the medical box. Put all the headache pills ( neurofen etc) in one little plastic pot, all stomach stuff ( Imodium and the like) in another pot.
All the plasters in another etc.
I organised my scarf collection yesterday. Will go through fridge tomorrow.
I am always organising. My DH loves clutter, mess, papers & old crap. I am always chucking his rubbish out. He doesn't even notice. My DD is the same. Oh how I wish they would be more organised. Oh well.... Lucky they have me Grin
If I didn't work FT I would have to find other peoples stuff to organise, as I am sure I would run out of things to do eventually.

I'm tidy. I may be neurotic, in fact. DH is messy. I love him anyway. Well, most of the time, when I'm not yelling about the mess he made. Thank god DC are like me...

The funny thing is, all of DH's family are also messy. (Honest, I think it's genetic, or anyway cultural. Lots of Brits are WAAAAY messy. No?) And though it drives me (and DC) slightly wild when we're visiting PIL and SILs, when we get home I sometimes look around our flat and think.... how bare and cold it looks!

I have organised chaos. I know where everything is even though it seems messy. The moment I put something in a "safe place" it gets lost.
I even find that I know where things are in the organised chaos of my friends. It's just a knack lol.
As long as your boss knows where things are isn't that the main thing Grin

I am very tidy and organised. Everything has it's place in our home. I can just about tolerate dd's toys and arts and crafts all spread out on living room floor! They are packed away every night.

Dh is fairly tidy and always says how appreciative he is of me. He does not understand how I can keep on going when he feels so shattered.

I hang out all our clothes, bar dh's the night before. My bag, baby's changing bag are packed the night before.

I am messy and disorganised. Partly this is because for some unfathomable reason I think that taking the time to develop proper systems and follow them is somehow self indulgent and av waste of time even though this is clearly not true and partly because I have no internal sense of time or spacial awareness which makes organising my time and space really hard.

I love being tidy and organised.

Unfortunately DH and DC are not. To be fair the DC are nowhere near as bad as DH- I'm fed up nagging him about the huge pile of dumped clothes in the corner of the bedroom. I'm hoping for a tranquil Zen bedroom when we redecorate, and I can't see how this will happen while DH is still sharing the room with me. Although we are planning to get big wardrobes with sliding doors, so there will be enough space for me to open his side of the cupboard and chuck his mancrap in it.

I am both, organised-but-messy, too. Can find what I want/need but very very behind on filing paperwork.

I used to be anal about it all being beautifully filed but have more recently become better at seizing the day and having fun with my young DCs rather than spending a glorious spring day inside doing the filing or tidying up!

I'm organised but messy, I am never late, never miss or double book an appointment, keep up with all the household paperwork (but leave the filing to pile up once the work is done), the DCs stuff for school and all their activities is always ready and in place for when they need it, however the house isn't usually very tidy, we don't have enough storage and seem to attract clutter.

Organised at work. But more messy/less organised at home. All in the name if work/life balance. Am more efficient being organised at work.

I am desperate to be more organised. What tips and storage containers can you suggest for me?
