AIBU?

Nights in with OH

AIBU to be hacked off if nights in, especially at the weekend, purely consist of eating junk, watching tv & possibly drinking two glasses of cider. OH only ever drinks coffee (about a thousand cups a day!). Boredom threshold has well and truly had it!! Please give me some ideas!! Sad

Box sets.

Spotify. Take turns to play each other favourite songs.

Xbox games for two?

I so wish!! Xbox would have to be pried from DS' s cold dead fingers!! Box sets we do, but watching tv seems to be ALL we do! Love the favourite songs idea, but don't think he'd be interested (would mean missing vital viewing time!)

It's hard to switch off that Fri/Sat night hook you had when you were younger that you could look forward to all day because Anything Could Happen.

Staying in and doing what you'd do on any weekday is the same as going out and finding nobody else you want to see is out and having a shit night.

Cheated Grin

How about enticing him into a rude board game?

Yeah, you're probably right AgentZigzag. We haven't been out in such long time tho, I barely remember it lol. Even if we did go out wouldn't know what to do it where to go. Lack of transport & funding can put a big old damper on choices, plus OH not a big drinker. But when you see what everyone else is doing on fb (I know, it's not all real) but my inner diva takes a massive huff!!

We're the same in that we don't go out, but at the weekends we deliberately have a night in with beers/films/forums/stay up later/don't have to talk if we don't want to DDs!!, DH is making cheese/egg on toast right now which is always a treat Grin

My mum wasn't much of a drinker but my dad would like to have a snifter or two, and he did find it hard that she's a control freak she'd never let her hair down.

Lots of people seem to be having date nights these days, could you give them a try? What did you like doing when you first met?

Lol, we would have gone out to a pub/club. See I think your weekend sounds lovely, like there is a bit of interaction. I think that is ultimately what I'm missing! Should mention we are only back together after years apart, although we still always spent time together. He never had anywhere to take kids, so was always at mine...

Shove the furniture aside and make a pillow fort in the front room. Get inside and Do Things.

Do you think getting back together has got anything to do with it? (if it's not too nosy, how long were you together/apart/been together again?)

That you know you don't 'need' him and are maybe less tolerant because you've lost a bit of that blindness that you need with someone you live with so the fantasies you have of torturing/murdering them don't actually come to fruition? (although I accept that might just be me Grin)

Lol AgentZigzag, that is probably very right!! We were together for about 10 years, fighting constantly for about six of those, apart & fighting constantly for about eight years (with some minor indiscretions in between). Could not cope with his lack of responsibility and lack of accepting he had responsibilities. Fighting has stopped for quite a while now tho. Does feel different now, like he may have grown up a bit and had more consideration. But we seem to be in a rut already!!
Kisses I think I want to do exactly that lol!!

Are you in love with the man you first met or the man he is now (because everyone changes over time)?

Report
AgentZigzag · 02/03/2014 03:21

Or another way, are you in love with the idea of what you think/thought you had with him, or do you as the person you've become now genuinely love the core of the person he's become?

Report
innocentinfamy · 02/03/2014 03:43

He's definitely a better person now. I would not have the boy he was then. I definitely wouldn't even have considered it before. Yeah, I love him better now because I feel free too, rather than feeling like I should just because he's the father to my children. I know I don't need him, But now, I want him, ykwim. Wow, first time I've said/realised it like that![Smile]

The hard core AIBU's will be round to put the boot in pick over the bones soon, they get up early so not long to wait.
