Grin

not going to flame, i'm going to join you.

i had a Hmm moment the other day when at school pick up. 2 parents standing chatting and another heavily pregnant one arrives. parent one says "are you still here?" pregnant parent replies "yep still here". parent 2 says "i know when i saw you driving earlier i thought 'either she hasn't gone in yet or she has and she's back out again'"

  1. she'll still be here once the baby is born- she wont disappear in a puff of smoke!
  2. well duh! it doesn't take a genius to work that out!

    ok flame me Grin

The Queen says 'What' when us plebs say 'Pardon'.

Just so you know...pardon is to forgive, what is to express regret.

Here's hoping for a damehood....

Definitely the woman who needs a good flaming for that outrage.

Uugghh. Shuddering at pardon.

Report
SavoyCabbage · 01/03/2014 21:54

What? I don't even know what we are judging? The tea? The 'what'?

I beat my dc with the handle of a passing chimney sweeps broom if they say 'pardon'.

Pardon is actually the 'lower class' thing to say Grin
What is more acceptable in posher circles, pardon is for servants!
Quite enjoyed telling my mum that after 15+ years of "It's pardon not what!!"

What about 'sorry?'
As in 'I didn't quite catch that, sorry?'

I do find 'What?' quite abrupt, so I tend to add some waffle 'Sorry, I didn't catch that' or 'Sorry, what was that?'.
