AIBU?

...to ask for a hug

Just a quick one. I am not usually a hug person but I feel a bit lost and overwhelmed at the moment. Too much going on - including daughter under therapy which includes sleeping pills, some serious scheduled tests which will include a scan of her uterus, radiotherapy for me next year and ex forcing us to sell the house. If it was one thing - it's easier - but they are coming at me like fireworks in the face.

Obsessed now with making Christmas perfect. Just tried to clean the kitchen and I am so exhausted. But determined.

So can I have a hug please?

Have a hug. Christmas doesn't need to be perfect - give yourself a break.

No need to make Christmas perfect under any circumstances, but particulary when you're going through such a hard time. Relax and enjoy the time off (if you can) and recharge your batteries.

Big hugs and Thanks

Here's one from me. I can't imagine how overwhelming it must be having all of that at once. Have some Brew and Cake as well...

Big hug for you and Flowers

It's impossible for Christmas to be perfect, so don't put pressure on yourself. Just be kind to yourself.

Heres a hug from me too.

Pop the kettle on and put your feet up for half an hour.

Its so difficult when everything piles on top of us. If i'm able to I usually do the 30 min task then 30 min rest routine.

Other days I just do the rest routine...

Here's another wee hug. I'm sorry you're having such a tough time and I get why you're having a cleaning frenzy etc, it's about trying to regain/retain some measure of control when everything else has hit the fan. It's the kind of thing I used to do as well.

However, if you can, sit down and have a rest. Like others say, buy ready made stuff. Get some chocs down you. Perfection is no use if you're shattered. Which you will be, emotionally and physically.

This is the time to be looking after yourself and nurturing g each other. A quick tidy is fine. So long as the place LOOKS reasonable, it'll be fine. I used to scrub the house top to bottom before Christmas and new year. Got 2 DS now and it's practically impossible to get the chance, even if I had the energy!!!

Can you have a wee glass of wine??? It always takes the edge off things for me! I hope things get better and unless you're having people for Christmas, then your family would rather see you relaxing rather than scrubbing ! And any guests will just need to take you as they find you!

you can write your name in the dust here, just font write the date

Yep its a winning formula. Little bit at a time. Run a nice bath, if you have one, get a trashy informative magazine and immerse.

I also do the iron clothes during the soaps routine, no ironing allowed during adverts. I have many winning formulas [big grin]

I feel now as if I may collapse. My daughter has officially been thrown out of college. Her attendance has fallen to such a point that she cannot catch up and it would not be in her best interest to continue.

What the hell do I do now?

Is that the same daughter who has the medical problems? Is the college aware of this, and have they offered any support?

Worse things happen than being asked to leave college. She'll be able to pick up her course again, or start a new course, when she's medically fit to do so. In the meantime I assume she's living with you (you haven't said how old she is), so she will need your support. Would she be able to do a (part-time) job until she's able to get back into education do you think?

I'd leave it for now, take a break over Christmas, and pick up again in the new year. Forget about the housework and cooking a ginormous meal on the day - just chill.

More hugs... and Cake
