All on Nick

Camp Fred, iCarly Shake it up and Victorious.

I don't find this appropriate viewing for a 9 year old or am I just an old fud?!

QOFE Thu 29-Aug-13 19:42:31

Not seen any of them but if you don't like them then turn it off. Most TV for children older than CBeebies age is utter shite, my older DC aren't allowed to watch any of it and don't seem to be suffering as a result.

Tittypulumpcious Thu 29-Aug-13 19:44:36

I would remove the tv altogether if I had my way!

IneedAyoniNickname Thu 29-Aug-13 19:45:44

My 9 and 6 year olds love Fred, I've only half paid attention but his voice is annoying.

Tbh it seems similar to things I watched at much the same age so it doesn't bother me.

missgrainger Thu 29-Aug-13 19:47:08

banned by whom?

LanguageTimothy Thu 29-Aug-13 19:47:12

If you don't want your children to watch them, just tell them so. You are in charge after all.

Tittypulumpcious Thu 29-Aug-13 19:47:21

I had Worzel Gummidge! Fred is such crap they're having a burping contest..nice.

Nikeairyfairy Thu 29-Aug-13 19:47:38

Oh god my 5yo watches some of this shit. I've decided it has to go. It's awful.

Rooners Thu 29-Aug-13 19:48:06

I've seen a bit of victorious on CBBC, it seemed a bit crap.

We don't have nickelodeon.

I hate citv apart from the anime stuff, some of cbbc is rubbish too, most of cbeebies is alright. apart from baby jake

Thepowerof3 Thu 29-Aug-13 19:48:46

I don't have sky but some of the kids programmes on CBBC are excellent

Tittypulumpcious Thu 29-Aug-13 19:49:15

I'm not in charge it's not my daughter it's dh therefore he has the last word..engrossed she is. I'm off to cause a power cut!

McNewPants2013 Thu 29-Aug-13 19:51:47

i love fred lol

maybe3x Thu 29-Aug-13 19:53:42

If you've got Sky put a pin code to lock those channels, Ds has to ask if he wants to watch something on those channels and I'll unlock it for him depending on what it is. He does like those programmes but I don't think they're suitable hence the lock. So Yanbu.

JamieandtheMagicTorch Thu 29-Aug-13 19:55:14

iCarly should be banned on the grounds of camp shitness and profound child over-acting

JamieandtheMagicTorch Thu 29-Aug-13 19:55:34

I don't know the others

Tittypulumpcious Thu 29-Aug-13 19:57:45

Maybe3x we have virgin, wonder if I can do the same?

Personally I'd like to get rid altogether and have freeview, there's more to life than the tv!

Crunchymunchyhoneycakes Thu 29-Aug-13 19:57:57

I don't know that fud and fuddy duddy are entirely equivalent in meaning.

StephenFrySaidSo Thu 29-Aug-13 19:58:14

i love them all grin

scrappydappydoo Thu 29-Aug-13 20:54:38

Well a few weeks ago I wold have agreed and then I watched the appalling Violetta on Disney and anything is better than that. Even DD1 who watches anything switched over in disgust.

wigglesrock Thu 29-Aug-13 21:12:08

Parents always think that - my mum stopped us watching Grange Hill because the pupils were cheeky smile

Am not sure the feasiblility in banning something because you don't like it.

DD(8) loves Fred, Victorious, iCarly, Life with Boys, How to Rock and Big Time Rush. They are harmless, pretty innocent and good fun. I don't see the problem confused

Meglet Thu 29-Aug-13 21:47:33

We only have freeview so there's only cbeebies / CBBC and CITV to choose from. CBBC is great, I happily watch their factual docs even the Jedward ones are good.

Because I am an evil mother I've locked CITV, they are allowed a bit at weekends.

Titty - I totally agree!! My 9 yr old has a ban on icarly and victorious and also Violetta -totally inaooropriate. Apart from the awful dubbing ...script like "you were with me last night and now you are with her".

the sad thing its the "Disney channel " which means it sounds ok but its not.

I will let her watch Jessie and good luck Charlie as these are more younger children based - reminds me of the crosbys

It's even creepier when you read about the producer of these shows. Dan Schneider I think he's called.
