AIBU to get DD out of bed at 2am to look for tonight's meteor shower?

She is 6 and I think she would love it but its going to be chilly and quite a faff. Her dad already got her up last night but it was cloudy so far it's looking clear and tonight is the peak!

Why not? I'm not going to with my DCs to as I am already in bed but she probably would like it. We went out to watch the international space station go by a couple of nights ago and they were fascinated. Might depend what time you need her to be up in the morning though.

Saw about 4/5 in 10 minutes around 2330. Now it's cloudy.

Last saw them in Switzerland when DD was just a bump.

Saw these last year in a pretty rural place in sw France last year. Was very clear skies and absolutely no light pollution going on. Loads and loads of them in such a short period of time. Was an amazing sight. Dd enjoyed them too.

I stuck my dressing gown on, made a hot chocolate and went out after posting here, definitely saw 1, possibly a couple more out of the corners of my eyes, I was wearing glasses which give me limited peripheral vision compared to contacts, it was slightly cloudy as well. Will try again tonight.

My late Dad used to wake me up in the night when foals were born at home. He used to tuck me up in his PK Recliner chair which was exciting. The headmistress however always knew without being told because without fail I would fall asleep at my desk the next day at school!

We saw a couple on Friday night - hoping for more tonight - I think it's a great idea to get children up to see this sort of thing - I remember being dragged out of bed to see a fantastic rainbow when on holiday in Wales aged 5 or 6 - late evening heavy shower around 9.30pm - still memorable
