AIBU?

To be feeling a bit frazzled...

DH and I have had 2 whole weeks off together with our lovely DS, who is 2.3. He is fab, but is a real chatterbox, and still rather attached to Mummy. Which is lovely, but wearing.

We get up and he plays well etc and is generally very good and I know we're blessed. But oh my goodness, the chatter! "Mummy, what you doing? Where's Daddy gone? Where's my Peppa? Oh, I found her! Mummy, what you doing? Sing me a song, Mummy. Again. Again. Again." Repeat until bedtime. I try to give good responses and listen carefully to what he's saying and hold a nice conversation, but it is wearing.

And I'd rather like to go back to my nice, quiet office now. With cleaners. And different adults. And go to the loo in peace. Grin

AIBU?

YANBU at all - I adore being with my 3yo dd, she is hilarious but when she's not talking, she's sings instead and if i ignore her she sings / talks louder. I need my work days to let me ears recover!! Grin

Oh yes! If I give anything less than a satisfactory answer to "what you doing Mummy?" It gets repeated. Many, many times!

I'm considering actually taking a few days off to recover Blush

Well he sounds completely lovely but you are a rurally allowed to tell him to zip it for 5 minutes every once in a while.

When mine drove me to drink I instituted bed room play. They had to go to their rooms for 20 minutes and play whole mummy had a cup of tea and rest.

Although my thoughtful DH has promised to text me asking me what I'm doing several times tomorrow, just so I don't feel homesick Hmm Grin

Yanbu!

Ds 2.2 - what mummy doing? Where daddy? Daddy at work? In car? Who that? That a man? Man got hat on? Look mummy car! Got wheels. And door. Lady in car? Lady driving? Me in mummy new car? Driving on road? Where we now mummy? Going this way? Look mummy, wall....

And that's just in the car. At home its pretty much all fireman Sam related with endless questions as to where his cousins, uncles and aunts are.

I know it won't last forever so am very patient and I love hearing him talk but yes! It is wearing and its nice to get a bit of peace at work.

rumbelina yes! That's it! In the car yesterday, we had a journey of 30 minutes. He talked (mainly to himself, DH and I were talking too) about diggers and tractors the whole way there. Why the obsession? He loves them!
Every time we go past the fire station, he shouts "fire engines! Nee naw nee naw!"

Haha yes diggers and tractors too! We saw a tractor on a particular road about 2 months ago. We drive up there every morning and he still says 'see tractor?'.

I didn't even encourage the diggers and tractors. I was almost snobbish about it before DS was born, no kids TV, making sure he had a lovely selection of toys to play with, no clothes with any forms of transportation on...

Then DS found his own mind and insists on Peppa Pig coming everywhere with us (I hate that little pig) and wearing clothes festooned with Peppa and George or diggers Hmm

Ahh yes,the verbal diaorrhoea satge of development Grin I childmind and once had a little boy who was like that for 10 hours a day - well 9 as he had a 1 hour nap. I remember once we had to do a very short drive to collect another child -literally a couple of minutes round the block (I usually walk but for some reason we had to drive that day) I had the same colour car as his Mum and every time we got in the car he had this long winded sentance that he would say to remind me, which HAD to be acknowledged or he got upset! On that journey he managed to tell me 27 times!!!!! I remember the number as counting the number of times kept me sane and responding politely as a good CM should Smile

But when I have 2 or 3 children at this stage of development I confess there are some days I need to lie down in a dark QUIET room for half an hour at the end of the day before I can engage in adult conversation Grin

Oh and I love my job and really like all the kids in case you are wondering Smile

Dobby, please tell me when it usually eases up a bit? Dd is now 4.3 and still going strong with what, why, and near constant chatter. If I don't respond she just goes into a loop.

lol @slatternlymother. It does ease up Zeno, often when they go to school as they can bore the pants off the teachers then Wink Sorry, I meant "tell their engaging stories too" (its my day off...)
