Help don't know where to post: Argos say they've delivered but they've not!

I waited in all day for my DS birthday present (Nexus 7) from Argos. I'd arranged delivery date online and only did it this way because our local store is out of stock.

So yesterday it didn't arrive and yet the online tracker said it had been delivered yesterday.

So today I've phoned and explained all of this. Customer services checked order status and say that the courier 'left it in the porch' followed by 'you signed for it' Neither happened and these statements contradict themselves.

I informed her that I signed for no delivery and although I do indeed have a porch there was no parcel there and she spoke to a manager.

I have to phone them tomorrow after they've received contact from the courier.

I'm really concerned that it's going to be my word against the couriers and I'm really upset about this. I can't just afford to go and buy another one.

Any advice greatly received.

Argos used Yodel when I ordered from them and my delivery was dumped behind my neighbors bins and recorded as delivered with signature, even though I was in all day and they had to walk past my front door to get to the neighbours bins. Can you have a look in bins, bushes and just check with your neighbours to see if they've had anything left for you, or if you can just have a check in their garden to see if it's been left?

Did you pay by credit card? With some I think you are covered aren't you?

It will almost certainly have been delivered to the wrong address, and this will become evident when they check the signature and it isn't yours.

Argos need to send you another parcel and take up a dispute with their courier for recompense.

Yodel have previous for this sort of thing here

If it has been "signed" for then you will be able to prove that it is not your signature. I have always found argos to be quite helpful, so hopefully they will sort it. Did you pay on a credit card? If so, you can go to them and claim back, too.

Yodel are crap. Delivered a big red box with "virgin wine" written all over it and just left it on our front door step!
Suprise suprise, we had an empty box there when we got home. Arranged with virgin a new box (they were fine about it), asked for it to be kept in yodel warehouse. Went to pick it up and the useless tossers couldn't find it. Had to go back again to get it on a later day. There were several people there making complaints on both occasions, so I imagine your not likely to be the first person to have had this conversation with Argos. Don't let them fob you off.

Another story about Yodel claiming that they had delivered something when they hadn't here.

It seems likely, given that they are the worst of all couriers, that Argos receive high numbers of complaints about them - you won't be the first, and the dispute is between Argos and Yodel; Argos will want to conduct an investigation but in the meantime you want a new delivery.

There was an item about Yodel on Watchdog Daily this morning. I am pretty sure that as the contract is between you and Argos, not you and the delivery service, that they should sort it out. But don't quote me on that! There was loads of advice on what to do but I was mning working so I didn't really hear what they said.

Yodel are utter utter gash so it's likely they're the ones who have screwed up. Speak to Argos and get Yodel to provide a copy of the signature. If they can't do it Argos should be able to claim through Yodel. If they can provide one and it's not yours then you can claim against them.

I've had this with yodel twice before. After much arguing back and forth it transpired that the driver couldn't find our house and so delivered it to the same house number on a different street Hmm

If they are saying its been signed for ask them to send you a copy of the signature. They either haven't got one, or you'll be able to prove its not yours.

Yes don't worry, Argos will usually sort it. I had the same argument about something I had signed for - Yodel won't deal with it, but refer you back to the supplier. I now phone companies before I order and if they use Yodel I won't order from them and I tell them why not. Hmm

I've had similar with Yodel too. Having insisted the item had been dropped at my back door (I don't have a back door) they got so fed up with me complaining they sent the driver back to show me where he had left it. I waited at the gate for his van to arrive and it turned out the item was outside another house in my street. The doors have straightforward numbers, not names, so for the life of me I couldn't see how he had managed to cock this one up.

I also support the Yodel are Shite school of thought.

You need to ask them for proof of the signed Proof Of Delivery which obviously they wont be able to give you as you havent signed for it.

Yodel (when they were HDN) stole the Ipod I'd ordered from Amazon a few Christmases ago - I found the landline number of the local depot (as my online tracking was still saying it was there, yet I'd had no 'tried to deliver' cards) and rang to ask if I could come pick it up as it was getting close to Christmas - the woman told me in a very offhand manner 'oh, if it came in and hasn't gone out within a day or so it'll have been nicked, love. Was it expensive? Oh yeah, someone'll have had it...' ShockShock

They changed their name to Yodel but they're still the same bastards imho...
