MrsKeithRichards Thu 25-Oct-12 10:48:26

Or you can not read them?

missymoomoomee Thu 25-Oct-12 10:48:49

I deactivated mine a few months back. Best thing I ever did.

pictish Thu 25-Oct-12 10:49:43

Yabu. You don't have to read those thread - you can ignore them. people can post about whatever they please. The site isn't tailored for you.

Mrsjay Thu 25-Oct-12 10:51:12

YABU you don't have to read anythread FB related they can say what they want about facebook and friends, on it,

MaureenCognito Thu 25-Oct-12 10:53:35

ive had to hide three today already

MaureenCognito Thu 25-Oct-12 10:53:54

lol at people coming on here to say I can hide it ;)

qo Thu 25-Oct-12 10:56:38

YANBU, but this wont end well - people get VERY defensive about facebook.

It does sometimes seem like facebook is one of those things that you aren't able to have a negative view of without BU!!

KenLeeeeeee Thu 25-Oct-12 10:57:27

I deactivated mine a couple of weeks ago and it's the best thing I've done in a long time.

PrettyPrinceofDarkness Thu 25-Oct-12 10:59:34

I was a bit hmm when I worked at a court and saw the amount of fb printouts being submitted into evidence!

I find it a bit tedious tbh.

Softlysoftly Thu 25-Oct-12 10:59:46

YABU I don't use it in that way <<old giffer>> but FB etc, whether we like it or not, is a method of social communication which is rapidly becoming as important as actual RL interaction.

Sad but true therefore FB interactions have their place on AIBU.

waltermittymissus Thu 25-Oct-12 10:59:46

Well of course YABU! It's not really up to you whether people are on it or not, or indeed whether they post about it or not.

I know you're loling at people telling you to hide the threads but...well...hide the threads! smile

pictish Thu 25-Oct-12 11:00:06

I don't give a fuck about fb either way. I'm on it, but have never had any bother or upset over it in any form.

However, if someone does, I think they can post about it here if they like. I will ignore it, because I don't care about fb disputes whatsoever, but it's their call.

qo Thu 25-Oct-12 11:02:01

The op hasn't said people can't post about facebook has she? She asked if she was being unreasonable to find threads about it shite

Shesparkles Thu 25-Oct-12 11:02:13

YANBU I use FB but use it to keep in touch with extended family, have some banter/ lightheartedness with work colleagues etc. No dramas, no hassle...I clearly have like minded friends and family!

ShutTheFrontDoor Thu 25-Oct-12 11:02:39

I find boring threads utterly shite. Hth

qo Thu 25-Oct-12 11:03:57

and it is true that some people wouldn't ever think about just logging off and walking away from it - even though they're getting grief/upset/shit through it!

It ISN'T compulsory

waltermittymissus Thu 25-Oct-12 11:05:10

Well, quite qo but I'm assuming the purpose of this thread was to have a good ol' bitch about FB no? And subsequently the people who post about it?

MaureenCognito Thu 25-Oct-12 11:06:29

eg

HERES something nasty on facebook WELL IF YOU hadn't shared i would be none the wiser tbh and you woudln't be publicising some lunatics crap.

people seem to virtually get divorced on facebook/
OR just gloat

I know of one mother who puts ''well done to my child who got a distinction at school today"

seriouslt

Kalisi Thu 25-Oct-12 11:09:03

YABU I love Facebook, I especially love watching arguments on Facebook. But that's only because I live off the misery of others care hmm

qo Thu 25-Oct-12 11:09:06

Why is having a negative view on something automatically seen as "having a good bitch"?

I'm not on facebook, but have no problem with those who are and certainly don't feel like bitching about them.

If someone was getting over-involved or upset about something on mumsnet - people would rightly say, log off - walk away if it's upsetting you that much.

You do get jumped on a bit for suggesting the same thing about facebook, people get so defensive!

waltermittymissus Thu 25-Oct-12 11:09:27

Do you have a Facebook Maureen? Maybe you should deactivate! smile

Is this thread about Facebook being shite then or about threads about Facebook being shite? <confuses self massively>

qo Thu 25-Oct-12 11:09:38

Kalisi - grin that just made me laugh!!

MaureenCognito Thu 25-Oct-12 11:10:07

thank you qo my new best mate

agree re legally bit of facebook posts.

it really is for common folk I think

grin

waltermittymissus Thu 25-Oct-12 11:10:17

I was being flippant with that qo! I don't think this thread is altogether serious is it?!
