AIBU to be eating a Heston Bleumenthal christmas pudding.

After hearing about the mad rush last year for his christmas puddings I decided i wanted to try one as i love him.

I went to waitrose yesterday and bought the small one. Dp said thats not big enough for allof us i just laughed at him and saidit was for me only. Now im sat here eating it and i have to say its the best pudding ever

Yes I agree! We also bought the christmas pud from waitrose and two of us shared it for dessert and it was yum. I will buy another to put away for Christmas day.

I was not so impressed with the Heston mince pies (with pine sugar!). We sampled the Taste The Difference (Sainsbury's) pack of mini 9 mince pies infused with brandy this evening and they were much better.

I love this time of year so we can sample the Christmas cake, mince pies and puddings. Trouble is we will be sick of them by Christmas!

YABU cos you spelt it wrong - it's Blumenthal (it better be or i will be embarrassed).

YANBU because i ate a whole bar of Galaxy & a Mars Bar earlier, so it's good to hear that other people like to eat 'bad' things too.

YABU because actually Xmas Pud is healthier than chocolate - it contains lots of dried fruit (raisins, sultanas etc).

So to make me feel better please eat some chocolate too :)

Thanks everyone i knew i wasn't being unreasonable. I may be unreasonable when i go and buy the whole shops worth of sotck of them tommorow lol.

i just steamed it in the saucepan for 40mins then put loads of squirty cream on it lol.

You're not being unreasonable, but from what I've seen of this gentleman (my sister tied me up and forced me to watch several episodes), you're being quite brave. Who knows what he thought was a good idea to put in there, or by what arcane technique he prepared it?

Lol the trouble is I dont have a microwave so i had to steam it or eat it cold lol.

That's my dilemma, whether to steam or microwave?

I only usually microwave peas but thought steaming the big pudding for 3 hours on Christmas Day might be a bit much for me, as I will be very busy. I will be quite merry by then and might forget to keep checking it

QLB - Absolutely yummy! The tangerine thingy in the middle was a bit like a tomato for size and it was not like a tangerine out of the fruit bowl but was like a crystalised tangerine so was a bit rubbery. It was still a good idea and if I ever make my own Christmas pud I may put an orange in the middle (ha! Heston! Stitch that!). Whatever happened to the silver sixpence? Health & Safety I expect.

We begin sampling all Christmas cakes, mince pies, and Christmas puds about now and it lasts until Christmas day in our house. It has become a bit of a tradition as I began moaning about keeping Christmas in December but then gave in and just went with the flow.

If you can't beat them then eat them I say!
