Some male cats are prone to bladder crystals especially after neutering so special food can help minimise that although I have to admit that doesn't seem to be what they're offering

I'd never feed a cat an exclusive dried diet, I've been advised this isn't good for their kidneys especially neutered males,

It is always to get a food with fewer derivatives. I recommend Royal Cainin indoor and Bozita indoor, neutered.

That is if your cats are indoor!

My cats will only eat go-cat!! I have tried other brands and they won't touch it for days. They are 11 now, one male, one female both neutered.

My cat lives very happily on Squirrels, pigeons, mice etc to supplement his Felix with side dish of biscuits (which lasts a few days between top-ups).

At 11 years old the vets are always impressed by him, and put it down to him being a "proper" cat (hunter!) and bever questioned his diet.

I forget -in addition to go cat they will eat voles on a regular basis, not sure which one it is, I suspect the male as the female is too fat and lazy isn't a hunter.

only dry food is not that great for cats, as they don't often drink enough and the concentrated urine can cause kidney problems. And many supermarket brands are horrible, full of cereals, colours and additives - cats are carnovires, they don't need wheat.

LRT learned that after my cat died of bladder cancer at eight. Go Cats were a treat but he was addicted to them. We thought it was funny to see him sneak into the kitchen and steal the box

It's all marketing bollocks. You don't need to be feeding ANY of these low-quality packaged foods to your cat. Cats are carnivores, and should be eating meat. Can I suggest you have a read through this: www.catinfo.org/

I feed my cats raw chicken + lamb bits now, its really easy to do when you get into the swing of it. If you are uncomfortable feeding raw then a high-quality canned is the best option, however this will be more expensive.

Paiviaso could you give me some examples of high quality cat food, my cat has had bladder problems and it has been a night mare to get him to eat the vet recommended food plus the high cost involved.

Wheredidyoulastseeit, I think foods like Thrive sound very good. There are also products like Grau and Applaws which look ok.

I haven't fed these myself, as I've been making my own, but basically what you are looking for a food that is "complete" (should say on the tin), that has the highest meat content possible, and is grain-free.

Hmm looking closer I suspect Grau and Applaws aren't complete cat foods, so be careful if you feed these, as your cat will still need other sources of nutrients. Read labels carefully before purchase :)
