Washing machine just finally given up so meeting DH to choose another at later today.

I keep reading you shouldn't buy cover BUT on this washing machine I've had far more than my money's worth from the cover for this machine on call outs and parts.

Plus this machine was actually a replacement for my washer, which died just before the cover on that machine ran out, so was replaced free of charge. So over 10 years I have had value for money from my 2 lots of cover.

So am I BU to think I should just get it again as part of the deal?

I ahve it for our machine. I've had over £800 worth of calls to previous machine and got a replacement which only cost us £75. I always ahve it for washing machine as its one of the most used items in my house,a dn I don't have a spare £300-400 to replace it

depends on so many things. If its been worth it for you in the past, then carry on. Check out alternatives first though - you may get a better deal than the one you're offered (its usually D&G I find) You have a year standard warranty to think about it even if you dont take out extended cover immediately. I have British Gas homecare, and any appliances I have I cover through that as for me it works out cheaper (I just added my gas hob at £3.70 pm - that is way cheaper than what D&G quoted in their letter - and BG have been brilliant to date with callouts)

John Lewis (I think) offer a 3 year cover as standard plus the option to purchase 2 extra years for not a lot of money. There is the Euro rule that items should automatically be covered for 2 years

I am a jinx with washine machines ive always had cover I think it paid for its self , machiens come with a warranty anyway so i guess its how you are with machines if you get it or not , this washer i have now has been bliss and never had a call out for it , but still worth getting the cover IMO ,

My washer dryer is still going 10 years later, despite breaking down at least once a year every year we've had it, so if yours ends up being anything like ours, please trust your instincts and get the insurance.

I'be had my Bosch for 7 years, and so far nothing has gone wrong that I haven't been able to fix myself (usually hair wrapped around the pump). So personally I'd rather spend more on a decent machine.

You don't need break down cover, goods should last for a reasonable length of time. Extra cover is a big con.

Took cover out once the warrantee ran out, never regretted it. I got mine from D&G
