AIBU?

To think that all Coldplay songs are about Gwyneth's GOOP lifestyle?

I hear Coldplay and I just think, ugh, he's singing about a woman whose cook screwed up the pesto and whose child's Latin tutor is failing to teach piano simultaneously with teaching Latin so the kids are just falling right behind the other kids and the whole lot of them will go to hell in a handcart unless those mangoes ripen in time for the Fijian delegation dinner.

Yes! All of their music is about how AWFUL it us to be a white male millionaire married to a beautiful actress, oh gosh my poor heart bleeds. Whiney Boys Music is what it is referred to as in our house

my dh says that someone called Coldplay "Music for bedwetters" which is very funny if harsh.

I loved some of the first and second albums. And I liked that xmas single. But I heard a song this morning and I just thought it sounds like a cry of pain because the deli's shut and we can't get any more babaganoosh! We'll all probably die!

Look and you shall find
goop com

I feel unsisterly but I just find GP's self promotion just too much.
But she is a yank, and yank's do it that way so one should say go sister, but I feel I'm being showed off at by a heinously privileged sister who barely knows she's born and can only do all this baking because she's got about 12 full time staff.
huff huff.
I'd respect her more if she THANKED them and put photos of THEM on her website, her personal assistant, her army of nannies, her cleaners her management, her plastic surgeon, her botox man, her personal trainer, her liposuction guy, her marriage therapist etc.
I mean be honest honey, you're not telling the whole truth!

When I hear Coldplay singing saddish songs, then it just reminds me that no matter how rich or beautiful or succesful you are, you are still open to the same hurts and feelings as other people. Or are rich people somehow exempt from heartache and sadness? Just because someone isn't worrying where their next meal is coming from doesn't mean they are emotionless.

Surely you could say the same about any multi millionaire pop/rock star? I have to say I find it infinitely more irritating being lectured by the likes of Bono about my carbon footprint.

Oh no, don't get me wrong! I don't think the privileged feel less pain or suffering emotionally than the rest of us or the music would come from a less authentic place.

What I mean is, as a consequence of this woman's ubiquity, and her lifestyle website which in a recession is verging on the insensitive (imho), and her relentless self promotion - I just hear their music and think of her and her glam life with chefs and jewelers and shopping, and her pizza oven in the garden and it just means I don't really hear the music is all.

I wish I knew the truth about U2's alleged tax evasion.
I mean it's possible if they stayed in Ireland the gov would try to prop the whole economy on top of bono's bulging little wallet.
I just don't have enough facts on this but it doesn't look good from where I'm sitting.

Artists/actors don't pay tax in Ireland. Even Julia Roberts keeps a house in Dublin as a little tax dodge.

But big companies do surely? U2 are a massive international company now. They used to pay tax in Ireland as far as I understand and then moved to Luxembourg or something.

My friend went on a date with CM before he was famous. apparently she went back to his place after dinner feeling up for it, but when he took his shoes off, his feet smelt so bad that she had to make her excuses and leave.

So save some sympathy for poor Gwynnie!

I am glad they have each other and won't make two other people miserable. I do wish they'd both shut up now, though.

Just googled Goop.com but my Smug Filter stopped it, thank goodness.

DrunkenDaisy.
I'll tell anybody that will listen that I think Chris Martin needs a good wash. His excessive sweating really puts me off watching Coldplay, I actually quite like some of their stuff.
Glastonbury this year, he was dripping all over the stage. Take your jacket off for Gods sake!

I knew he would have smelly feet Wink

What's wrong with our A listers and actors just being private?
I don't want her Tuscan bean with lavender scented, japanese black peppered. guava and quinoa dip recipe!
I don't want to know that she had an authentic pizza oven built in her garden! And that homemade pizza making has been a dream since then! Not the annual million pounds worth of child care she has! That's not helped her homemade pizza making one bit!
I just find the vaingloriousness of it, the solipsism, the narcissim so odious.
And you feel, doesn't she have any friends?
Why doesn't someone say - "Stop! This is beyond inelegant! You are basically showing people your bank balance and saying "Aren't I rich'n'cleverer than Thou!"
Why won't anyone say it to her?!
I know, I shouldn't look. I'll stop now.

You can't go back!
It's undeleteable from your soul and mind!
It's like Lady Macbeth's damn spot: "Out damn gloop, Out!".
You can never unknow the authentic pizza oven, it is like a stain on heart, mind and soul.

But Yello is a lovely song don't you think?
At least the band seek privacy as individuals, this has to be respected.

I hate Coldplay. I hate his whiny voice, the banal music, the way that every song he sings seems to about his hair-dryer breaking down. I hate the way he prats about the stage. I hate everything about them. The banal, middle class themes (nothing wrong with being middle class- heck some of my favourite bands are middle class. Pink Floyd, anyone?).
Everything about Coldplay I hate. They make me want to go and immerse myself in a room blaring out The Smiths and their lyrical genius Morrissey at a million, trillion decibels to bleach my very being of Martin and his cronies and the absolute disaster of their whiny-arsed lyrics.

Did I forget to mention that I really, really hate Coldplay?
