On Saturday I went to Morrisons to purchase two pieces of steak I asked for 2 pieces from the meat in the display cabinet which looked very nice, the guy went and got 2 pieces from the back I said I would like the meat from the counter if look a lot nicer! to be told no this is nicer I was annoyed isn't that mis selling? the meat we ate on Saturday night was rubbish it was extremely fatty I'm very disappointed and I will never buy meat from Morrisions again has any1 had a similar experience?

No, because I'd argue. I wouldn't accept the meat I didn't actually request. EVEN if its 'nicer' I want that piece!

My experience in Morrisons however has always been good.

If you're in that situation again simply say "I don't care if that's 'better' I want those pieces please". If they get stroppy, complain.

you should have refused the steak if you didn't want it.

There was probably a hygeine or stock rotation reason he got stuff from the back. Perhaps the steaks in the front had been in the open chiller too long and he knew it.

It's not mis selling because you knew it was steak, and not the one you wanted. It's not hard to ask to see the meat before you buy it though.

Waitrose Gordy... I dream of Waitrose. Is it really as nice as my sister keeps telling me?

I think they ride pushbikes over it to tenderise it ....

I've never eaten purchasing steak before. Can you grill it or does it need marinading and slow cooking?

I wouldn't have bought it! I would have asked for the steaks I had chosen and if there was some reason he coldn't sell me those I would have chosen something else I did like the look of.

In Morrisons you get Raleigh Nicely Prepared Steak .... in Waitrose that's just how the customers pronounce it .....

Don't argue next time, demand. Just say 'I don't want it'.

No outside dirt?? What AT ALL? Is Waitrose a vacuum?

I've misread the thread title as "Morrissey's purchasing steak" and wondered why he lapsed from vegetarisnism. D'oh

I've never had a problem with Morissons meat, no. Clearly it's rarely as good as Waitrose meat, but I've had some pretty good steaks from them before.

Ermm, YABU for not at least looking at the steaks from out the back before you bought them though.

No, Waitrose just doesn't do dirt. It simply doesn't exist there.

These threads remind me of the tale of Iceland staff getting thrown out of Tescos for sticking stickers on some of the frozen foods saying 'pssst, it's cheaper at Iceland'.

It's just not cricket!
