to return from holiday without chaos

Returned from lovely holiday with dh, dd and parents to find my ds (18) had basically drank his body weight in jeiger and allowed a friend to rewire my living room light. Now sitting in darkness.Keep finding more destruction such as a 'nest'????? made from blankets and tea towels in the conservatory, substance like hair gel but glittery in my shoes and dd's little people sitting in the shower.
The exact happenings are sketchy as ds lost the ability to communicate in anything but grunts at the age of 16.
To make matters even worse, the bloody cats now have an attitude with me as well.
I have spent the day planning punishment.

His friend is training to be an electrician, not that that explains it. It is like living in an episode of the inbetweeners. The little people have also popped up in the fridge, tea cups and plant pots. My dh thinks we are lucky he isn't looting and tooting.
Not quite sure what tooting is?

My fil was doing our bathroom whilst we were away.

I returned home to:
half a new toilet, no seat, no lid, open cistern
No carpets in hall stairs or landing
No sink
No bath
Half tiled walls
Work stuffin every room and the garden

However i am very grateful that hes doing it, and it will be amazin once its done. I just wish it was a bit like diy sos where they inish everythng by the time the people come home Grin

I can't believe he let his friend fuck about with your wiring...does he know how stupid that was?

You left an 18yr old lad at home alone. Tbh I think you'v got off lightly. Give him v specific cleaning up tasks and get the mate's boss back to sort out the light.

Why do people expect 18 year olds to behave like that ? 15/16 maybe. But not at 18.

Report
EarlyyearsChildcare · 20/08/2011 22:11

i think you can get away with things at 18 because you are a newly qualified adult.

think you got off very lightly, an 18-year old home alone is definitely going to party.

I can honestly say, when I was 18, in fact when I was 15.. I would not have let anyone in my house if my parents were away. I certainly would not have had a party and risked my parents possessions or the house itself being damaged.

So funny! Sorry, it's not nice for you and I don't blame you for being really cross! Have you checked the drawers by the way? My friend did the same and her son threw a big party while she was on holiday. A few days later she opened the drawer on her bedside chest and found someone had thrown up in it! UGH! Does that help? Probably not! Sorry!
