AIBU?

To see that the youth of today are good

My son has told his friends that I am suffering with stress at the moment, bad anxiety and I've now got my back garden with three 14 year old boys in it who are doing my garden and tidying my shed.

I've always tried to be good to them as they were growing up and now they're being so good to me.

Our young people get so much bad press but most are just good kids. Bless 'em.

A lovely OP!

I think most people who actually have anything to do with young people (which I hope is most people, IYSWIM) are quite fond of them, really... but it's still good seeing nice posts and reminders like this.

Thank you, Mitmoo - hope things ease up soon.

We see so many posts on so many boards demonising children, but the children I know are just fab.

My teen DS recently did something pretty fab to fundraise for his mate who is seriously ill. He made me VERY proud.

hobnob and all. I just think we don't hear enough about how fabulous our young people are.

Perhaps we should make this a tribute thread to all of the good things our children do and have done. Let's hear a resounding cheer for our youth.

Agree Mitmoo. I am as guilty as anyone of seeing the bad and bloody annoying in DS but often pretty slow to praise the good Blush . But he has made me hugely proud.

tbh I find oap's (and I'm one) far more objectional than teenagers. I think they are great!

hobnob the bad an annoying are in your face, the good are generally more passive, it's easy to follow the "Yuff of today a fugs" line so I thought it would be nice to praise our young people. My family young and old have done a lot of fundraising and the youngters are as enthusiastic as the "fogies" 2shoes perhaps we should all share to counter the negative press the "yuff" get.

I have given cake making instructions to 3 teens today via text. Don't know them well really, but they needed to make a cake so decided to ask me!!

Told them to clean as they go along, hope to god they did or some poor mothers kitchen will be in a state!

Wow how lovely. And it is nice to hear about some of the good things people do in the world, rather than the constant complaints - so I'm appreciative of such a nice OP Smile

Right now, I'm praying you're right, I'll let you know in a week Shock

I wouldn't have volunteered to go if i didn't agree with you

I am really pleased to hear such positive reaction to my post. One of them has left now but he's offered to take my Avon books with him to give to his Nan aunts and friends of his mum.

The little gits have put a proper lump in my throat.

Of course YANBU

Unfortunately 'TEENAGERS BEHAVING SENSIBLY' doesn't make the news so it's easy to get a distorted view of them, which then becomes the stereotype, which then becomes the expectation. The minority that live up to the expectation make it all go round in circles again.

It's sad that people think it's unusual for them to behave nicely. Some are vile - but no more than some adults are.

It does make you feel good when 'yours' are being fab though!
