A co-worker has taken to calling me Paddy because I am Irish.I find this derogatory and really thought times had changed.I have asked him to stop but he just laughs.
AIBU?

Ummm I don't think YABU. Talk to the management. They will have a quite word with him. Thankfully nobody calls me paddy, then again I don't really sound Irish anymore.

I did complain but was told it wasn't an issue as we are both white.

Still bullying though. Take advice from the citizens advice bureau. It is an issue.

YANBU. My DH is Irish, and has been told he is being 'too sensitive' when he has objected to the 'Paddy' title. He reacted with some very interesting Irish. There really are certain people who don't think it's racist/offensive. They're the same people who call anyone from Wales 'Taffy' and any woman they don't know the name of 'Doll', 'Babe', 'Sweetheart' etc IME.

Taffy is hardly offensive. Unless it's being used because some fuckwit can't remember your name
