Adoption

Applied to go to an Activity Day

Well, as the title says, we have decided the time is right for both of us and we're asking our SW to confirm to Baaf that we are fit and proper to attend one of these days.
Our early matching days focused on very young babies but recently we have broadened our thoughts to slightly older children and these may be the ones we could meet at such an event.
I am told these days are very emotional. Any advice (or links to other threads, sorry if repeating) would be gratefully received Smile

I have no experience of matching days but just wanted to say good luck and I hope the day is not too emotional. It would be lovely if you meet a child who could be your child Thanks

Hey Choccy I really feel they are a great idea.

Here is a thread I started last year

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/adoptions/a1871167-Activity-days

and another from this year

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/adoptions/a2043510-Adoption-activity-day

I just put 'adoption activity days' into the search on mumsnet to find them.

This thread is about the programme 'Finding Mum and Dad' which was about adoption activity days....

Good luck.

Thanks, I wasn't functioning properly last night clearly, can usually find old threads!

Baaf have sent me all the forms (they seemed to have a real person monitoring emails after midnight!) so am a touch downhearted today as the SW has to fill in quite a lot. We barely hear from her and she didn't take us to panel. Let's hope she has time to get on board for us.

It's her job! I hope she will be able to do it!! Good luck.

Great idea. Yes it will be hard, but even if you don't meet your child you will learn so much .

You will be exhausted for the next few days, so don't plan anything. And whatever you do,don't tell anyone in RL or they will all be on the phone asking you about it.
