Apologies if it is not half-term this week where you are.
Maybe we could inspire each other with ideas of how we have killed time/ entertained our DC, or just share our despair at things we have tried that haven't worked out or that our DC have spent all day in their pyjamas in front of screens.
Yesterday I worked a 13hr shift, DC were at home with DH. To my surprise, they had got dressed and left the house. That doesn't normally happen when I go to work and it was below freezing here. They went to the park. They also had a movie night and were still downstairs not ready for bed when I got home at 9.30pm (they are 6 and 9).
Today they spent all morning watching tv/ DC1 watched stuff and played games on her ipod while I unsuccessfully attempted to tidy the kitchen. They have not got dressed. This afternoon DC2 and I played half a game of Junior Monopoly before she got fed up, then, inspired by a challenge pack sent by DC2's Rainbow leader, they decided to make Mardi Gras masks. These turned into glittery cat masks and involved getting out all the craft items, making a huge mess and using excessive amounts of glue and glitter. Then DC2 finished painting a cat money box she started months ago and DC1 found a crystal growing set which involved about 5 minutes of activity that you leave for about 5 days before anything happens. They are now eating ice lollies and watching Bluey. I don't expect to persuade them to do anything else productive today.
