I’ve just leaked at work!

What do I do?
I’m on my period and have leaked onto my jeans. I’m in an office of around 25 people and have gone to the toilet and my pad has shifted so there’s blood on my jeans. It isn’t massive but I checked with my phone camera whilst in the cubicle and you can see it when I walk.
I’ve scuttled back to my desk and just shutting myself not knowing what to do.
Might just stay seated until the end of the day and run out quickly.

That happened to me too once- I tied my jumper around my waist and hid it that way!

Is your boss female? Send an email to them and say what's happened and you need to pop home.

Oh no..have you got a cardigan or something that you can wrap around your waist?

I haven’t got a jumper of cardigan😰 I work in a very male dominated office and I live too far away to nip home. Was considering faking ill and just going home for the day.

Put your coat on and say you're really cold and don't feel well so you're going home.

Has anyone else got a cardigan you could tie round your waist? Can you realistically stay seated until the end of the day?

Any more sympathetic/discrete colleagues you could email to ask for some sort of help? Maybe to borrow an extra bag or garment to wrap around for heading home?

How long til you finish? I would go for trying to stay seated until then. Is it on the chair?

Honestly I’d say I had a bad stomach and needed to go..

If there is a next close by maybe you could order something that they have in stock there and collect and change into? or if there is a supermarket with clothes nearby could maybe you could get something there?

This really isnt anything to be ashamed of. I worked in a very male dominated place as well and when this happened I just said it and popped out to buy new trousers. No one even cared.
Just tell your manager and go get a pair of trousers if you're near a shop.

Not sure if this is a practical solution for you but spit dissolves blood. Something about the enzymes. You might find that dissolves the stain enough.

HeeHawSeeSaw · 02/12/2020 15:02

Or just put your coat on ( if it is long enough to cover the leak) and say you are feeling very cold (despite the heating)

If I notified a colleague had a stain on their trousers I a) wouldn't every say anything and b) would probably forget about it very quickly

I know it is mortifying right now but believe me, no one will give it a second thought

Tummy trouble. You need to head home.

I once came on unexpectedly (about a week early) and leaked through my shorts I had on under a casual Friday dress. It wasn’t going to stay invisible for long.

I sent my boss an IM saying I was going to tell people I felt unwell and was going home but told her what had actually happened. She was very understanding. I can’t imagine a male boss expecting you to stay.

I don't know how bad the stain is, but could you possibly rinse it and then dry with the hand dryer? Meanwhile cleaning yourself up? I've done that myself before. Not minded any other women coming in as they've likely been there before themselves! ThanksWine

Just be honest and brash about it. "I have my period and it leaked". It's just a bodily function.

If you're in a male dominated office, chances are none of them will notice.

I wouldn't be comfortable doing this in any of the male dominated environments I've ever worked in tbh.

As soon as you mention "period" they will all be interested in something, ANYTHING else - and it will never be brought up by them.

What are these jobs where you can just put your coat on, announce you're leaving, and that's it?

Report
CorianderQueen · 02/12/2020 15:56

Make boss will read 'I've got my period and leaked on my trousers and need to go' and send you on your way.

If they mentioned it or mocked it to others they'd be setting themselves up for quite the lawsuit.
