If I don't use chlorine tablets how often will the paddling pool water go manky?

We have a medium paddling pool (size of a double bed-ish) and I was toying with chlorine tablets. But they're all out of stock locally.

If I don't pop in chlorine tablets how long might it take for the water to get gunky? I have tweens who aren't going to wee in it.

I'm torn between tablets or just emptying it every week or so and using it to water the plants.

If you are not adding chlorine to kill bacteria, the pool should be drained every other day. Stagnant water without chlorine, can become unhealthy water in just 24-48 hours

I’m having this same issue, we left it a week and it looked like a green mucky pond. Was thinking of putting some Milton in but not sure how much.

I've never had a problem leaving ours for 3 or 4 days, we just scoop the leaves out. But I imagine I have lower standards than some!

Baby bottle sterilising tablets from supermarkets are the same thing. Cheap too.

Ah, I can probably get Milton.

I'm trying to Amazon. It's making my life harder but apart from a recent blip I stopped using them 5 years ago.

If we don't put Milton in ours it lasts two days.

Anyone know how many Milton tablets needed? We have a smallish pool.

We just had our water last 2 weeks. Milton (15ml per 500l) and then bicarbonate of soda (500g in a 3000l pool) to neutralise after a week Then add Milton in again. Cover overnight and scoop out bits with a fish tank sieve

Ah I can def work out litres from the filling time, it doesn’t say on the box 😊
Is 15ml liquid Milton like 1 whole tablet? It’s years since I was sterilising anything for DC 😂

How do you empty in if it's contaminated with Milton or chlorine? I'd rather have a small pool I emptied every day. Then the water can be recycled on lawn or flowerbeds.

Chuck some bleach in, it’s the same stuff. Loads of info online about using bleach instead of tablets.

Without chlorine tablets I used to empty, clean and refill every 2-3 days. With them it's about once a week.

The water is still clear since filling on Sunday.
One of the cats thinks it's got it's own private watering hole Hmm.

Would Milton poison the cats and bees?
