Bet it would be really hard to get insurance to cover it if you dropped one.

D'ya think Simon Cowell will order a 100 for his tree ?

Yes DP's first thought on seeing it was that he would drop it

Bloody hell! I was way off. Am now off to order 3 for my tree. ( more likely to go to wilkinson's and buy a box for a quid)

can't believe you have to pay delivery on top!

Report
Curiousmama · 07/11/2009 12:58

you pay for delivery? Do you think it's a joke?

Hightest bid we got to was £200 after I'd zoomed in and just showed them pic, ds2 was the closest.

OMG!

Do you know I actually thought that link would go to the £3.99 Christmas decorations I bought for the DCs teachers at Christmas last year, but couldn't justify buying for our tree .

I actually came on to this thread just to feebly say "Oh but sometimes people buy just one for a present you know ..."

But that thing looks like any other bauble doesn't it. I am confident we have some in our loft which are not dissimilar and came in a box of twelve from Homebase for a fiver.

Wouldn't you have to stand my the tree saying to your guests: "What d'ya think of me new bauble then? How much d'ya think it cost? Go on, have a guess!"

God people are weird

Wonder how much delivery is?

Am imagining it being delivered by those twats parcelforce and CRAMMED through the letterbox.

MadameDuBain · 07/11/2009 17:16

I'm sure delivery involves a coach with white horses and a footman with a cushion

Saw a lovely glitter fairy on a mushroom that looked more expensive than that . Not even something of outstanding beauty or art!
WHY!

It kind of makes me feel a bit tight for rejecting these lovely baubles I saw yesterday because the were £2.50 each and I would need to buy about 6 of them

Haven't looked at the link yet but I saw one on tv the other day and it was 5 figures.

Yes Riven, obscene is the word for it!

Meglet · 07/11/2009 21:59

it doesn't even look that nice. if that was on a tree mixed with wilko's decorations I bet most people wouldn't even notice.

RockinSockBunnies · 07/11/2009 22:05

It was less than I'd imagined. I had visions of a Faberge-kind of thing, encrusted in rare diamonds or something, costing at least £50,000!

It's not that nice is it?

Report
RockinSockBunnies · 07/11/2009 22:06

Found one that's ten times more expensive! Look

Report
MadameDuBain · 07/11/2009 23:59

Wow Bunnies! But I actually quite like that one's arty looks (and at least they admit it's a gimmick/one-off and not really for sale...)

I think it's quite pretty, but it would be just as pretty with something other than real gold and real diamonds.

Stayingsunnygirl · 08/11/2009 00:21

Well, I thought that the first one was pretty enough, though I'd prefer a dark blue bauble inside - but I bet John Lewis could make one just as pretty and a darned sight cheaper!

I do buy one or two new baubles a year, to add to the much loved collection that comes out each christmas, but I suspect that neither of the baubles on this thread will be on the stayingsunny tree this year - or any other!

(the first one is quite pretty, that is. The second one is hideous)

That's fucking sick.

You could build a primary school or a maternal health clinic in every village in Laos for that.

Or make a decent start on clearing Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia of landmines so there are no more 7-year-old double amputees in the world.
