We decided that this year instead of spending obscene amounts of money that we dont have on proper presents we are doing novelty £5 present, competition is to be the winner of the tackiest present and I am struggling

BIL is 32 and not really into anything particular

SIL is also 32 likes running/cycling

FIL is mid 60's and loves golf

MIL is mid 60's

They are all a good laugh and will not take offence at anything, ideally as one of the rules is that if it is for display it has to be out until EAster so I want something that they'll have to display and I can check when we go there

Now the shee wee sil/mil may find practical so am off to investigate wellies (whoever linked to the mug hs the same sense of humour as me I got that for my Dad for fathers day!!)

gadgetshop.com has got a month of mad offers on at the moment, changing every morning. All sorts of weird and wondeful stuff reduced down to 2 or 3 pounds or so, which when you add in postage is about right.

today they have floating spa light for a couple of quid instead of £5 but have had some much more expensive stuff reduced quite a lot (like light up handbag shaped speakers or ipod or pig piggy bank that oinks and counts the money in) and super tacky stuff too (like the handbag speakers and the pig piggy bank...).

we've had a competition like this with some family friends but where the winner is to give the most obscure kitchen gadget. And so I am now able to recognise all sorts of weird and wonderful kitchen gadgets from the obscure (eg to make hard boiled eggs cube shaped, a thing to screw closed a turkey so the stuffing doesn't fallout or froth hot chocolate) to things that are now quite mainstream but weren't 20 years ago (avocado scooper-slicer, pineapple corer / skinner / peeler)... what I am trying to say I think is that it might be worth a look in the bowels of a kitchen shop, always some useful stuff and often only about a fiver...

Home bargains has some inflatable sumo wrestling 'outfits' - you could get 2 and have a sumo wrestle or 2 as part of your Xmas entertainment!!

I can't find it online but Robert Dyas is selling a 'Bruce the Butler Corkscrew' which is basically a plastic butler shape who has a corkscrew between his legs so you have to give him a stiffy to use it. It's quite twisted and absolutely completed tacktastic.

Or how about a spinning spaghetti fork

whomoved's post just reminded me...

It's slightly more than you wanted to pay but presents for me (LowLevelWhingeing's link is below) have a Maggie Thatcher nutcracker where you crack the nuts between her legs...

still trying to who is supposed to love it and who is supposed to hate it
