Christmas

If someone asked you to get some pyjamas and they'd give you the money...

How much would you spend? They are for a 10 year old who's in age 13 clothes.

A relative has asked me to choose some pjs for my ds for Xmas and they'll give me the money.

I'm not sure what's reasonable to spend, I know what I would spend on my own dc.

Why don’t you ask them how much they want to spend??

I'd say £15 max but probably a bit less, perhaps around the £12 ish mark.

I'd bear in mind the type of person they are too, do they spend loads on their own clothes, or not very much at all, that'll probably give you a good indication.

Who'd have thought it would be so tricky!

I would think who relative was . Struggling relative I would be primark, relative who sends lavish presents I would worry less

I could ask how much they want to spend.

I'm just interested in what others think is reasonable to spend on pyjamas.

Well they're not struggling but certainly wouldn't want to take the piss.

It will be one of a few presents that they'll probably buy for dc.

I’d think more like £20. I’d use m&s as a benchmark though, so I’d check how much they actually are there. That’s where my relatives would buy gift pjs though, yours may be different.

Like has been said. If you know they won’t want to spend too much, Penney’s or tesco. Otherwise I’d pick out a pair from next.

Thank you. It's ok I usually buy my dcs pjs from M&S, Next so probably a bit more pricey than say Primark/Asda.

Relative shops everywhere from John Lewis to Primark to charity shops, so can be tricky to gauge.

I think I'll stick to cheaper ones though to be on the safe side.

Last year I was asked to pick some up from a specific shop (football ones) and they ended up being quite pricey.

pjs for christmas from a relative? Are they scrooge?

I would give the child cash and lie that I bought pjs. Pjs are never a suitable christmas gift from a relative. I imagine that they will move onto buying tampax and deodorant soon. When they are an adult it will be loo roll.

Lol I didn't think pjs were a bad gift!!

It won't be the only gift they'll give but to be honest I quite like practical presents because we have too much stuff anyway.

I love getting pyjamas. I always liked getting them for Christmas as a child too.

I'd be aiming for 10-15. Hoping for closer to 10.

I buy three pairs of pyjamas for Christmas Eve gifts, plus some sweets. I go for cheap & cheerful, as they are only garnish on the actual presents, as it were, & in our particular case, tend to get worn over Christmas & not again. So £10 - £15 tops. If they were a main present, obviously more.

My children have always loved getting pyjamas for presents-still do at 17 and 22!
Maybe 15 quid?But I'd ask.

I would spend around £12-£15.

I love getting pyjamas, they have always been top of my Christmas list. Yes, even as a child.

if they didn’t object to last years pricey ones, and are happy to trust you to shop for them again, I think you can safely go mid-range.
