Where are you doing your Christmas food shopping and why?

A mix of Tesco and Waitrose they're the only supermarkets in our town. We only do online for heavy non perishables

Waitrose because it was the only supermarket I could get a delivery slot for the day I want.

I'll pick up bits beforehand from Tesco and M&S

Tesco/Asda/Sainsbos.
Have delivery slots booked with all three.
Also have a big Co-Op round the corner and Waitrose 5 minutes drive away.

Ocado. They have a good mix of posh and everyday things.

Asda home delivery. I don’t have to shop for the xmas dinner as mil does it all but I will get stuff in for Boxing Day

Sainsburys' online, booked for the 23rd December. Same slot as last year. They had everthing in too so I'm hoping it's the same this year.
Asda online, I haven't booked yet but will just be odds and sods I can't get in Sainsburys, or just general household shopping.

Sainsbury's for my ingredients and veg etc (deliveries 21st and 23rd booked in).

M&S and Booths for the meat / buffet food (special Christmas food!).

I'm probably going to get non-perishables in the next few weeks from Waitrose though.

Getting sainsburys delivered Friday the 22nd. Then will have a quick dash on the Saturday if anything is missing . I’m having family over on the 24th so need most stuff for then .

I'm worrying sick about it. I normally have everything sorted by now. I normally cook for 12.
This year I don't even know if I will be out of hospital for Christmas day. I have major surgery on the 20th and will be in 4-7 days.
Everyone is saying they are still coming to ours and they'll all just bring buffet stuff but I don't know who's buying or bringing what. It's stressing me out.

Sainsburys (mainly because I collect my Nectar Points all year for my Christmas shop)
There are Sainsbury, Tesco, Aldi, Lidl and Asda near me, Morrisons a bit further and Waitrose further still (and they never have the vegetraian mince I want )


So, I have booked off the 18th , plan to get the bulk of the non perishables and freezer food then.
Might squeeze in a trip to Waitrose (for the elusive Mince)

Then the fresh veg , milk/soya milk and anything else on the Saturday (at some mad early hour)

Blacktea you really need to concentrate on your own health and well being y'know, let everyone rally . Christmas will be different this year , but different can still be good .
You'll most likely be too knackered and sore to do much or care much after surgery . Let them (ie the family) take the reins. Good Luck with the surgery.

Tesco and the butcher. Longer life stuff coming next week, fresh stuff on the 22nd, meat collected from the butcher on the 24th. If I need anything else, it'll be from Sainsburys or Lidl as they're closest. I wish I had a greengrocer for the veg, but sadly not.

Blacktea - All the very best. People are great at rallying when needed, especially at Christmas. Let go and try not to worry. It’s trivial stuff, your health much more important.

We are hosting a party for 70 on 23rd, 6 of us on 25/26, then 14 on 27th. I’ve two big shops booked with Ocado on 22/23. If any of it doesn’t turn up, I’ll get DH to get it in Central London on 22nd or locally on 23rd. Poor ole DH

Blacktea wishing you well for surgery. Even if you do get out, if it is major, you probably won't be able to consider cooking for 12 (or even more than a cup of tea for 1!). So let everyone else either organize it entirely - or even host it themselves and let you be the guest for a change.

I have an online shop booked from SuperValu for evening of 21st for most bits. I will be into M&S on 22nd, as I work nearby, for a few bits.

I will no doubt end up in either the same SV or the big Dunnes Stores sometime on 23rd for bits, and possibly the turkey somewhere along the line.

I intend going nowhere near a shop on 24th - if I MUST, it will be the local Tesco Express.

Aldi for me because it's closest and cheapest, I always shop there

Farm shop for meat, veg, eggs and frozen croissants. They are our usual supplier for frozen croissants but the others are very nice and worth the extra at Xmas (it’s marginal anyway). Tesco’s probably for the rest as they send me £6 off a £60 spend vouchers fairly regularly.

I got a lovely voucher after popping into Sainsbury's today to use some extra point vouchers they sent to me, actually. It was £8 off a £50 online shop. Next week's is over £80 due to ingredients for Christmas baking, so it's great timing!

Meat order has gone to the butcher I always use.

Everything else from asda/Sainsbury as they are closest and I pass them both on the way home from work so I can call in for bits gradually

I will pick up some bits this weekend (non perishable/freezable obviously). Everything else when I finish work at lunch time on the 22nd. Meat is ordered for collection in the 23rd.

Blacktea - can none of your family/friends host this year, I certainly wouldn't be offering to host if I had major surgery planned for the 20th Dec .

To answer original question, I am stocking up on non-perishables each week and will go to Waitrose for the 'main' shop n 23rd - will arrive at 7am when it opens have never done an on-line grocery shop. .

Fish society for some fishy stuff.

@Blackteadrinker77 I've read your other thread. You really need to tell them to go elsewhere for Christmas. Listen to the advice from others who've had the same operation - you really won't feel like having a dozen people in your house.

This is the first year. I haven’t ordered my meat from Sainsbury’s/m&s. But anxious about it!

Riverford veg box being delivered, turkey from a local farm thanks to work always gifting each employee a farm turkey for Christmas, I'm picking up bits from what ever supermarket I'm in as I shop that are non perishable or freezable, and a Tesco run for the final bits at some point in the week before.

It is only me and DS for Christmas so don't need that much this year
