He's early 30s, an art teacher and artist. Not interested in sport. Is interested in music/film/literature but I don't know what he likes. He is a bit too cool for school.

In the past I've given him booze (a hit) and a book about Picasso (a miss- I think it was too basic).

Easy option would be booze again but I'm trying to think of something different. Don't think he'd want a gallery membership but I could be wrong. I don't feel I know enough to buy him art stuff.

Vouchers.

Or buy a card with a picture on it by an artist he likes and put £20 in it.

A voucher for the site Red Bubble - they have independent artists upload their work and then help them sell things like T-shirts and prints. Really awesome.

Some box frames to put some of his favourite record sleeves in?

Grayson Perry's 'Playing to the Gallery' book?

Book along the '1001 films to see before you die' lines?

Or more booze - why fix something that isn't broken?!

If he’s a bit hipster maybe a Kerouac book, craft beers set, does he have a beard ? If so fancy beard oil. Beautiful crystal whisky glasses.

There's that really good Ban Gogh biography. Or maybe just chocolate?

I'm buying my sisters Dh a photo album and a few pictures of their new baby. He is terrible to buy for so I feel quite smug that I've thought of something good for him this year, and hopefully it's something he'll like, use, and probably wouldn't buy for himself.
