Scooter help!

Ds is 12 and has asked for a scooter. Anyone know what the better ones are? I have no idea on makes. Ideally one that lasts and budget up to £100.

I just bought one for my 8 Year old, but it had fab reviews, it’s an adult scooter but can be used from kids about 8 and up. It has Large wheels too! And comes in a few colours. It’s called Hudora 205 big wheel scooter. Have a look on Amazon, price changes with the diff colours.
I had the Pink and silver which was £57 but had Prime delivery too (waiting in patiently for mine to get delivered today)

Always the Micro Scooter. DD has had the baby one since she was 1 and aged 6 it's still going strong despite being left in the rain!!! DS the next size up and has been handed down to DD so that one must be 5 years old too and he upgraded last year to a two wheel adult scooter!!! All micro ...Its worth paying the extra as the re-sell well too!

I would definitely recommend micro scooters. I think people on the bargain Christmas thread advised buying via opening a Very account as you could get a big discount this way.

Try to find out from your ds. When ds wanted a scooter at 10 it had to be a stunt scooter and everyone had/wanted a MADD MGP, nothing else would do. If he wants a stunt scooter skate hut is good, don't get a folding one as they don't take the knocks a stunt scooter gets. If he wants a commuting scooter microscooters are good, but not sure their stunt scooters are popular with pre teens.

I'm looking to get ds who will be 8 by Christmas a scooter & have no idea what to go for! He still jumps on the mini micro scooter but is too big for it now. I'm bamboozled by the amount of scooters & don't really ow what to look for, but don't want to spend over £100 & much less is preferable!

Depends what he wants to do on it - just scoot or does he want a stunt scooter to do tricks?

He'd probably quite like to do tricks but would need to master straight skating first! He's not the most athletic of children but fine on the mini micro. If there's something that's a bit of an all rounder that would be good.

Something that's easily put in the car is good as we're on quite a hill & dd4 isn't too keen on a lot of walking so difficult to please everyone! Thank you!

Are you sure about a Micro scooter OP. DS aged 10 and his friends would absolutely not ride a micro scooter in public even one of the stunt ones. MPG is the one to have apparently.

Ooh thanjs-will check out mpg now. No, I'm not sure about anything & ds is not yet remotely brand brainwashed as long as it's well made & easy to use!

My boys have had the hudora scooters with mixed results. DS1s lasted for years, DS2 went through about 3 in the same time. We ended up with various "francen-scooters" made up from various bits.

Nether of mine were into stunt type skating though they have always used them in preference to bikes for just getting about.. They now (at 17 and 16) have Oxelo commuting adult scooters from Decathlon and I've been very impressed.

I've had a quick look at decathlon and they seem to do the full range of scooter types.

I'd recommend having a look but you need to find out what he wants to do with it first as the folding ones aren't suitable for stunts, bigger wheeled ones are better for fast transportation (the ones DSs have have in built suspension too!) and you have the standard folding ones in-between.

Most 10 year olds wouldn’t be seen dead on a Micro. You need to find out if he’s after a stunt scooter or not. It’s a long time since mine was into his scooter but I think he had MGP? Doing stunts on a folding scooter is dangerous because there’s a chance that it will snap at the hinge.

It's not the OP that is now asking eyebrows it's another poster who's DS will be just turned 8. I agree with what you are saying though re stunts etc. It really depends what purpose it's going to be put to.

There is no reason that your 4 year old couldn't have a scooter too :)

Thanks all-4 yo will inherit ds mini micro & id love a scooter though think I'm too overweight for one- will work on that!

For the difference I think a non stunt one is the way to go for now. Will browse skate hut & the hedoras 😃
