As usual, dd2 has no ideas at all what she wants for Christmas. She LOVES Christmas though, and loves surprises, but is really hard to buy for!

All she really wants = chocolate and guitar picks! Any ideas, please? She doesn't wear makeup, doesn't like clothes except for quirky t-shirts, doesn't like books (my usual port of call for gifts!) much and doesn't really need anything.

I think I'll do her a box of Reese's Peanut But Cups etc, and get her a voucher for Starbucks and one for Nandos, but I'd love her to have some actual things to open too. Please help!

Is there anything she likes but doesn't buy for herself? An experience gift for the both of you (or a group of friends)?

Can think of various experiences, but tbh she would rather have a nice surprise to open ie: something material.

My DD is also 18 and loves quirky Tshirts.

Last year we bought her this in the pink - she loved it.
It was a bit pricey but the quality was good.

What about one of these. . .

www.amazon.co.uk/GUITAR-PICK-MAKER-PLECTRUM-PUNCH/dp/B00627KU7I?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

DS (17) loves the one we got him last Christmas.

Also if she likes the guitar is there a band that she follows?

If so see what band paraphanalia you can pick up - maybe mugs, a canvas, old tour programmes etc

So far Ive got verysoontobe 18 DD, the Harry Potter illustrated book, Agents of Shield dvd, nice embossed notebooks and a desk set of different sized stickies and pencils, perfume she likes and a hot chocolate set with a mini hot water bottle (for cramps).
Im getting her jammies and a little cash as well.

CoCo just reminded me of something else we've got DD as a stocking filler.

It's a set of coffee syrups from Costa along with a mug.

Just a silly little thing but perfect for the coffee lover.

Thanks everyone.

The Harry Potter book is as a great idea (for me!), as is the plectrum maker. :)

The coffee syrups are a good idea too - she's just discovered coffee!

Lush bath bombs are quite fun
new converse
Dvd box set or
Netflix subscription. You could make a little voucher and wrap it up with some popcorn and a big cosy blanket. I think most teenagers would love that.
A cookbook

Does she like a particular TV show, or is she part of a particular fandom Etsy are fantastic for quirky tees and fandom merchandise. I have bought some non-tack, almost Topshop style Game of Thrones tees and phone cases for my friends.

Or how about a nice pair of black or oxblood loafers from somewhere like Russell and Bromley? Practical and a gorgeous gift. Even if she's a casual dresser, you'd get a lot of wear even with jeans.

DD 18 in January, makes an amazon wish list for me to choose stuff from- she is asking for Tsum Tsums from Disney store, Ikea bedroom stuff- shelves etc, agility stuff for the dog, Pans - she loves cooking, clothing, sterling silver jewelery from etsy, hand painted bag- she got shoes last time. Always get dvds, books, t-shirts etc too.

She has had lots of good gifts over the years, adult colouring books and posh pens, kindle, chair for room, sims computer games, mineral makeup, acrylic storage, opi nail polish, snowglobes, hollister and a&f jeans and clothes, lush gift sets and perfume :)

Thank you. Lots of great suggestions here and d1 would love many of them - but not d2!

She doesn't like colouring but is a good artist, so paints/canvases etc would be a good idea. And a new blanket might go down well too. :)

how about quirky cushions - etsy is a good source, or high street shops like Matalan sometimes
guitar accessories - tuner, capo, book of chords
furry rug or other room stuff
a watch

does she like graphic novels more than wordy books?

Has got all the guitar stuff already tbh.
Plenty of cushions already too!
A watch might be a good idea. Thanks. :)
