Hi, I need to buy a gift for a 14 year old neice. I have never met her so don't know her at all. I just want to get something small.

Please can you help?

I'd go with either a necklace or a little purse from new look or similar.

Does she actually wear make up? I only ask as my 14yo doesn't...

I don't know :(
What would you suggest madwoman?

I can't even choose a makeup kit, I can see claires ones but would that be considered too childish?

Lol, I have no idea - 14yos can be so different!

Mine is booky, nerdy, and a dancer. Her friends range from the glitz and glam that would love make-up, to arty types that would put it towards supplies, to sporty types.

I'd probably stick to really generic and go for iTunes or a card for a store? Or ask the mum? I know when dh's niece hit 14 or so we relied on SIL to give us a clue or went for voucher type gifts for places we knew she would use... It seems less personal, but even a purse is either right or wrong, and will either be loved or loathed (quite possibly both over the next year...)

I think Damsel's suggestion is good...a pretty purse or jewellery. Do you know if she has her ears pierced? Maybe some earrings, or a little set of bangles?

What about a pair of those gloves that can be worn as fingerless gloves or you can fold over the top part to cover the fingers like mittens? Primark do some nice ones within budget.

Thanks! Th let problem is she is not from the UK and lives in a hot country. So vouchers and gloves won't work.

I was planning to give her 11 year old sister something like this

Are her ears pierced? Even better if recently so. I remember the cheapest earrings sending me into paroxyms of delight for at least two years after I got mine done.

How about a bath bomb from Lush and maybe some British/something not available where they live Xmas themed sweets/chocs to go with it? Could even do the same for the younger one.
My kids range from 6-15 and they love the bath bombs!

the nail art set for 11 y/o looks great.

I'd say a necklace in a little gift bag.

At 14 I'd have been happy with bubble bath/bath bombs. But maybe she showers? Hmmm... Nail varnish.... Face masks!

Not sure about bath bombs, the county I am going too, Bath tubs are not very common! It's mostly showers.

My 13 year old would like

Little purse or shoulder handbag
Toiletries like bath bombs, body lotion, make up and she loves nail varnish
Photo frame
Zoella's latest book
or The Pointless book (very popular)
Headphones for her phone
Bracelet/necklace/earrings
Fleecy blanket/squishy cushion type thing for her room

Do you have a Tiger store near by as they stock inexpensive, quirky and unusual gifts.

Are you able to ask her parent for any clues as to what she is into?

?ainsburys had 'beauticology' stuff on special offer this evening. That had a lovely bath set reduced from £4 to £2.66
