That is so thoughtless of your DH.

We are having a lazy start, dh and DS wrestling on the bed, db still sleeping, poor DS left for work, me nibbling on Xmas cake and mumsnetting.

Then this afternoon we have two close friends over and are heading out for pub lunch.

This evening DH and I cracking on with season 5 of Breaking Bad.

To the days after Christmas are all about wind down, relaxed family time and a bit of sorting out to make way for the new bits and bobs received at Xmas.

Its not that he is not capable, maybe I should have put keep him busy. He is self employed and shuts down until 2 Jan so I like to make sure we are busy every day or he goes back to work early or we end up at his mothers every day for a cup of tea hmm

what do you mean you need to keep him entertained? is he not capable of entertaining himself?

Boxing day is my birthday and for the past xx years have been going to my mum's for a 'party'. I have just turned 44!! It was great when the kids were younger but this year I rebelled and said we were going out. DM a bit miffed but it's always the same and my DH gets bored stiff.

So, I decided we would go and visit Savill Gardens as it is free entry for all of December and we had a great day. We walked around Windsor Great Park and the gardens then went to McDonalds for lunch just as the heavens opened. Came home a different way so we could see how flooded the Thames was and actually had a nice day for once.

I have actually had a birthday I have enjoyed and will do the same in future years. The only problem with having a birthday today is that it can be difficult to find places that are open and also no trains run so can't go to London so looks like we will have to make our own fun. smile

Erm, I think you'll find that Boxing Day us far from a nothing day.

It's Pants Day!

When H and I were together Pants Day was the best day of all. We'd spend all day on the couch eating the left over cheese, watching crap Christmas telly and not get dressed.

Ah, Pants Day. How I miss you grin

If you are near kew gardens they might still have some free tickets left?

kids are playing their new game on the xbox, dh is reading his new book and I am on here - we are all just chilling. We are going to visit my mum later on as we had christmas day with just the 4 of us - my sister and her 3 kids may be there too.

We are actively doing nothing today. Nothing wrong with a 'nothing day'. Kids can play with their new toys, DH will watch footy and I've earned a day off after the Christmas frenzy. Which is why I am in bed watching Come Dine With Me grin

I love Boxing day as all food has been prepared in advance, dc are happy playing with new toys and after 'doing' the entire Christmas with no help from dh I can sit back and relax.
Just got out the shower to be greeted by dh huffing he is going to sort the recycling out and have a tidy up as today is a nothing day!! Think its because mil made him feel guilty yesterday as we see no family over Christmas basically because she is an evil troll so not worth the hassle seeing my family as am then forced to see his the next day.
Please give me some nice ideas for what we can do tomorrow. Usually we go away from 27-2 but are not this year sp need to keep dh entertained!! Kids are fine btw they are loving their new toys I could cry however and am now worried will be made to family visit next year sad
