How much would you pay someone to wrap your presents.... Realistically ?

A work colleague of mine is starting up a present wrapping service . Great !! I hate wrapping presents.

First she said she'd charge me £35.00 for the wrapping of 50 presents . Price obviously dependent on if she drops off and collects and if she uses her own materials .

I said I'd drop off pick up and use my own wrapping paper but I'd have nowhere near 50 presents more like 20-25 . She's quoted me £20.00 .
So roughly a pound a pressie . Is this steep ?? Would you pay this ??

No - but I don't mind wrapping my own presents. Grin

I think it is reasonable, she is obviously doing it as a proper job not just doing you a favour.

Wrapping presents is one of my favourite things. I would never pay anyone to do it.

I'd happily pay £1 a present. I hate doing it, and I'm crap at it. Sounds like a bargain

If it's dead posh wrapping with ribbons and bows and all that like this then yes.

Otherwise, no. I can do sellotape and wonky edges myself Grin

Nuffink. I love wrapping presents. It brings out my best OCD/ ASD side... neat edges, colour coordination, sellotape measured to same lengths, ribbon perfect lengths... aces.

I don't think £1.00 per present is a lot. I wonder how long it would take her to wrap 20 presents? I spend aaaaaages on each one.

I don't think you could make much money out of this unless you were wrapping thousands of presents. That type of thing is sometimes done for charity at a shop or other centre. That's quite a good idea I think. £20 for 35 presents sounds quite reasonable I think.

Sounds ok to me. I quite enjoy doing them myself though. How do you know who they are for when they are wrapped? Does she do the tags too?

No - don't like wrapping but would find the pick up and drop off as much faff as actually doing it myself and I would be out of pocket.

Generally I pay in sexual favours Wink
(DH's parcel wrapping is way tidier than mine.)

I don't see how it can be done per present. If it was a ride-on car, then that should cost more than a pair of earrings.

I suppose it would balance out skippy....a present could also be the size of a matchbox.

sounds an okay price, but wont you still have to do all the labelling so they get re-labelled to the correct person so in that time you coulda wrapped em yourself?

No, I wouldn't pay. If you do a few presents at a time, as you buy them, then I don't find it too much hassle.

At work we do it for £1.50 but that's posho paper plus cloth ribbon and tag.

I would pay £1 a present if they looked beautiful, neat, fancy ribbon etc.I actually don't mind wrapping presents but I'm not the best present wrapper-er!

For the amount she is charging you, is she providing all the paper/ribbon etc?

Shinyshoes1 · 02/10/2012 17:04

No I'm providing all paper etc . She wants more if she is supplying it .

In regards to labelling I was just going to give her a labelled bag, pressies inside and then put back in the bag once wrapped . I suppose she can write on the tags too of she's got nice writing. Gotta get my money's worth Grin

"No I'm providing all paper etc . She wants more if she is supplying it"

fuck that I thought it included beatutiful paper/ribbons etc!

too much if you have to go buy wrapping paper, doesn't that defeat the point of giving someone else the job?

I wouldn't pay for it at all, but I'm quite happy with a big pile of wonkily wrapped presents that we've done ourselves, don't go for artistic wrapping here.
