'Retro' Christmas lights

Hi, we've just ordered a load of LED Christmas tree lights to eliminate the need for spare bulbs.

Unfortunately my seven year old has decided that Christmas lights should be the old Woolworths type, with the little petal shaped coloured lampshades. He has his own tree, so not a problem, I thought.

But I can't find them anywhere. They must have been a Woolworths exclusive or something. I know it's a bit early, but has anyone spotted a set anywhere?

I've tried the usual suspects online, Woolworths, Wilkinsons, Homebase.

Anyone?

I know exactly what your talking about, we used to have some. I haven't seen them anywhere recently though but I'll keep an eye out.

I have a bit of a lighting dilemma of my own... Im looking for a string of lights in the shape of cinderella carriages??? Has anyone seen any of these? I've found phone boxes Hmm but not carriages!

Ebay. There are loads, the old Pifco sets. They are gorgeous and I love them. So much warmer looking than the LED ones.

Magneto, my Gran had carriages like you describe and I'm also looking for some!

Aren't they just!

I'm going severely retro this year, but lord knows how much it's going to cost!!

Thanks guys!

Those are similar Shodan, they are my back-up.

I'll have a look at the ones on Ebay. The last time I liked the look of something on there I was put off by the saga of signing up to paypal, registering my cards/bank deatails etc. Blush

PS I love that ChristmastimeUk site as well, I'd forgotten about that!

Blush I do too, Bucharest, but I'm having to rein myself in this year as I have enough lights/decorations for half a dozen trees. I already put three trees up and I can't find a space for a fourth... plus DH is starting to get a bit eye-rolly about them. Grin

That's them! My grandparents had them on their tree when I was growing up and I love them! Have to convince myself I want them enough to pay that much now though!!!

yes I have a set of 20 in the original box. I am looking for around £50 for them it seems a lot but a site cheaper than those on ebay (£200plus?)
