There's never enough space on the mantlepiece.
Ds pulls them off low surfaces

Where do you or how do you display yours???

I have a picture rail and tape them all around the room. Special ones on the mantlepiece. It adds to the decoration!

We get some of those strings with little pegs and hang them about.

bluetac them to doors which are always open like the lounge - extra deco! Special ones in prominant spots (mantlepiece / bookshelves etc)

I have ikea cabinets that you just push the doors in to open. I stick ribbons ont the inside using masking tape from the top dangling down and then I hang the cards using little gold pegs that I got. I get about 7-8 cards on each door. As I have about 16 wall units cabinets, I can get a lot on each door.

As I us masking tape, they do not leave any lasting stickness on the insides of the doors.

i put them in a pile, then when the only person who cares who sent and who didn't (MIL) comes round i hand her the pile for her perusal. Grin

Strings on the wall, and some of those cardboard hanger things that holds lots of cards.

Special ones on the mantlepiece.

Get displayed on a shelf when they arrive and then get taken down and stuck in a pile if there are too many for the shelf. I only usually leave up the nice ones, or none at all, to annoy MIL

Sorry, I put them straight in the bin, and don't send any either.

Bah humbug.

Reluctantly. I feel they spoil the look! I put them on a large chest of drawers in the dining room and the hideous kids ones go in the hall.

Another bah humbug

I hang widish ribbon from the ceiling to the floor and staple cards shut onto them. I dot the strips of ribbon around the walls downstairs. I think they look lovely!

Clear nylon fishing line across long book case display unit in the lounge. Various gold and Christmasy little pegs. Stays up all year and is use for birthdays etc.
Must have been there 11 years. Cards simply had to go high enough that DD1 wouldn't try to get them and you can still flick a duster along the shelf.

Clearly really pink cards go on peg strings in DDs roomsGrin

Blutack to a cupboard door in the lounge. As the lounge door is open most of the time, it blocks them from view! Then I don't have to look at the dreadful ones.

I just let mine pile up - I hate cards.

Last year we were away for the whole of December and didn't send any cards, so hoping i have got stuck off everyone's list.

The only cards worth sending/receiving are from people who you dont normally see from day to day - or live overseas etc.

But pointless to hand them over to people you see every day.

My MIL displays all the special cards, from her DC and DGC on her mantelpiece and they are always the special handpicked ££ ones. My DH and I will if we have bothered to send a card at all, used one from a charity box or multi pack. It always makes me laugh to see it up there with all the special ones from the rest of the family.

last year i had this dilemma. DONT BUY CHEAP CARD HOLDERS, either ones for wall i.e. the metally ones, or the clips. I broke 3 last xmas. I dont have a fireplace so I used the TV stand, this lasted an hour. Than I decided to use the hall table, that didnt last either. I then stuck to door but with door being opened and closed they didnt stick. I stuck them to my large hall wall with blue tack. Everyone thought this was a great idea but truth be told I am still looking for a solution lol

Mine go all over the place - I have a couple of those gold strings with little pegs; also a gold tree thing into which you jam the cards (but it's pretty rubbish, and if you touch it they all fall out).

I also blu-tac a load onto the side of the stairs (which takes blooming ages), and special ones go on the windowsill (no mantelpiece here).

But I'm liking the lengths of ribbon thing, and staples sound easier than blu-tac. Off to Hobbeycraft, then.....

A handful of special ones on the dresser shelves.
Most in a big sparkly gold bowl on the dresser.
DC puts theirs in their rooms.

Lankeland do these: //www.lakeland.co.uk/43021/Star-Shaped-Card-Holder. I have four of them, and I've had them for years. They're brilliant - the cards never fall out (I put mine up on Christmas Eve, and they stay up until Tweflth Night). I put them on the back of the doors. I do blu-tac the cards so that they don't fall open though, and then you see the front of the card all the time.

Happy - how do you fix those to the back of the door?

Report

I tie chiffon ribbons that I have had for years around the top of the bannister spindles.

I then peg the cards to the vertical ribbons . The ribbons I have end in a large plastic crystal that helps to keep ribbons flat but I have been known to drawing pin ends of ribbon to skirting board.

Special homemade cards are sellotaped to the inside of the main door so they are separate.
