Beanbag good idea, what ese for their ( new) bedrooms? ds3 loves drawing, anything good along those lines? Ds1 would lve books, but now I also ave no time to order ( he prefers books in English which I can't easily get here).

It's a spin off of the Dangerous Book for Boys- it's just lots of half-finished drawings that you can complete any way you like-they they mostly involve rockets and monsters and weapons etc- and captions like' what is emerging from the sea' and you can draw a sea monster, say or whatever. It looks like it's for younger children, but DS who is actually into more advanced lit/games really enjoyed it and I'm getting him Doddlebook 2 for Christmas.

But I guess if you're abroad it will be difficult to find. Amazon has them.

Argos do a tool set with stuff called kids wood. It has projects you can do and the blocks of wood are easily worked with. I got this for ds who is 8

Loads of good ideas thanks. Any 'big' suggestions for 10th birthday present to go with all these smaller stuff. Ds2 would love an iPod touch but dh says no, for 1st time ever I am stuck for ideas. We moved in September and I only got Internet on Friday!,so my normal Internet shopping / browsing for ideas hasn't been possible this year.

How about Moshi Monsters membership for the youngest DS? My (almost) 7 yo loves it. You create your own online monster (kind of Pokemon type thing) and play games, "buy" things from the shop etc.

thanks, dh actaully sensing my panic has also chipped in. He got ds2 b'day pressie today (giant r/c car) and has bought couple of itunes cards for ds1 & 2. Can't now go shopping all day tomorrow or Wednesday morning, so will have to hold on till Wed pm and hope it all miraculously comes together. Thanks so much for your ideas!

I know that you're abroad, but my DS really likes a very small, battery-run radio-controlled car that is sold in Hawkins Bazaar. It's so small that it fits inside a can. It's called a can racer. It might not cost much, but it's been played with more than other expensive things.
