Work

I want to quit my job...

Prepared to be told that I’m being ridiculous. Just rejoined work from mat leave. Started and then the virus hit. The area I’m working in has not been looked after and people are basically palming stuff of onto me that is too hard for them to do and that they don’t want to take responsibility for. I’m getting no guidance and I’m working 7 days a week and a good 15 hours a day. I’ve spent no time with DD since returning and she doesn’t even bat an eyelid if I am in room or not.

I have always been career orientated and have always done a lot for my job but I just don’t have the energy anymore and I can feel my mental health deteriorating again... would I be stupid to quit in the current environment?

I would stick to your guns ask the boss what's priority and just do your allocated hours.
You will just be a number to your employer

Hi thank you for the responses - I am trying to be as balanced as possible when making my decision. I was very emotional when I wrote this on Wednesday. I could afford to quit in the short term but would need something eventually. I do think the market would be tough though as it has been noted above. Thank you for your responses definitely a lot to think about

OK... Its often hard going back to work from maternity leave... Your hours of work are ridiculous...
Meeting with manager re workload asking for guidance on priorities... As seems to be a workplace where people do long hours..do literally an hour over max a day and then stop...
Everyone will flog a willing horse... They will give you more and more till you quit or mentally fall over. STOP.... . Please

Can you afford to quit?

If so, do it.

Depends how much you need the income. If you quit now it may be a long time before you can secure another role.
I'm trying to move jobs, or I was before Coronavirus, but I've accepted that barring a miracle I'll probably have to stick it out where I am.

Can you do anything to make it better where you are?

Honestly, in the current environment I would recommend you try and stick at it but, can you tell me more about your situation?

Could you afford to quit? Do you have support at home? How long exactly have you been back? Could you discuss with your manager?
