Hi all.
I am currently a staff nurse on maternity leave and I have been very lucky, I have managed to get an interview for a Student Health Visitor Post tomorrow. Has anyone any advice they can give me for the actual interview? I am stressing as it is something I have wanted to do for a long time! I have send by little man over to his nans this afternoon so I can concentrate, I have just been getting more stressed as the day goes on. I have been preparing for the interview for some time but I'm worried my nerves will ruin it for me! Any advice or tips would be great. Thank you.

Avagrace1 I've been told that scenarios are usually around safeguarding

Thanks herbiehedgehogs. I was writing about that stuff but then seemed to go off the question. Need to keep focused on printing health for teenage mums. For health promotion I think it could be things like empowerment and facilitation. Also things like early intervention, improving access to services and facilities. Not too sure myself but that's the route I've gone down.!

Im not wearing a suit, bought some black trousers so going to wear them with a top, hope it will be ok. I'm stuck on the Health promotion strategies question. I think the health policies might be things like The nurse partnership, healthy child programme, health visitor implementation plan.

I've never been to the Uni before so no idea about parking. My husband is familiar with the area though so he's giving me a lift so I won't have to worry about parking and things. I'm struggling on the health policy part of the question. Are you wearing a suit to the interview?

Hi I thought I would do a paragraph for each heading, not timed myself yet! It doesn't say we are having a one to one interview so I hope not! Where are you going to park?

Report
Sanah78 · 23/03/2014 12:04

For the question are u just doing three paragraphs as such for the three headings.? I need to time myself and make sure I can get it all down in 30 mins! Wer not having a one to one interview r we.? @herbiehedgehogs

I have read up on loads but it's retaining it all! The 6 Cs are big at the moment as well. Good luck for Tuesday you will be fine :-)

I think they may choose something that's related to a policy or something quite recent that is open for discussion. It's got to be something general. Might be about NMC code of conduct so things like confidentiality etc. It could be a scenario that they want us to discuss. I will let u know Tuesday night how it went. I'm more stressed about this essay question. I'm finding it difficult to link everything in. And then to memorise it!

Thanks Herbie, I will be going to Anglia Ruskin in Chelmsford, Essex.

Didn't put quotes in the essay as it was only 20 minutes long and they said not to worry about references. The essay was around compassion and The Francis Report.

Best of luck!

Thank you for that I'm just sat here reading up on some stuff.
Did you put quotes and references in the written exam?
Cheers

Hi Herbie, I had an interview last week for the health visiting course. The group discussion involved discussing 'Professionalism' and then discussing 'Confidentiality'. There were 7 of us in the group and the interviewers sat outside the circle and made notes. It was 20 minutes all in all.

The only thing I would say to revise is the Francis Report, the 6 'C's and the health visitors Implementation Plan. They also asked about clinical governance, audits, give an example of when you were compassionate. They were big on examples of things. Also the role of the Health visitor, how you cope with stress.

Good luck. I got offered a place to start in September. So excited!!
