Woolly Hugs: Superman and Family

This is a support thread for crafters doing squares for SupermansBigRedBottleofSpirits, whose daughter Summer has died. Sympathies and thoughts go out to the family at this desperate time.

The crafting instructions are all in Knotty and Pistey's thread so I won't repeat them here.

This is a lovely butterfly square for crocheters, and this is a cute lace chart for knitters. This is a lovely little butterfly fair-isle design, I love how this has come out in multi-colour yarn on one of the projects.

If anyone needs help please just shout out.

Oh lovely, I've been busy doing rl stuff so have only just seen the last posting date. That's perfect as I can stop feeling guilty about doing all my christmas stuff now, as I'll have plenty of time for woolly hugging when I'm off work over Christmas.

Really hope my wool arrives this week. Last posting date is 6th Jan right? If so I shall take it home with me at Christmas and get hooky while my MIL chases my errant toddler around.

I've done lion square using a variation of this pattern. It comes out at 6" if you use a 4mm hook and DK yarn. The loop stitch works much better if you use a broom handle (or two drum sticks in my case).

Morning all :)

We have been thinking of a last posting date. Because we still have lovely crafters joining us, and sadly some awol woolly wool, combined with the upcoming Christmas holiday, we have gone for about four weeks from now. Hopefully this will help everyone.

Ninja - bear in mind I have to do the form, and DH's tax return, completely sober these days. But you should definitely take gin to get through yours.

Practically - for my first one, I was very lucky to have the assistance of the local branch of Carers UK. This was hugely beneficial, I don't know if I would ever have got through the form on my own.

I have my yarn so need to figure out what to do, that'll be more hours wasted on ravelry and I can ignore dla forms a little longer

Trib - hope you found time to reward yourself. Having done DLA forms for DS, Attendance Allowance for my late parents, and now helping friends complete their forms for their ageing parents, I do know how mentally gruelling it can be to write the negativity in the form filling. My first one took me weeks to complete as it is so time consuming but also so overloaded with a rollercoaster of emotions. X

Ooh bugger, I was going to take a photo of the green in daylight as it's meant to be lime, rather than grass, green. Now it's 3 o'clock and decidedly dark in the tundra/West Yorkshire.

Feeling super-virtuous because I've done DH's DLA application form as soon as it arrived - any of you who have struggled through this will know it's a genuinely awful experience writing down basically everything the applicant CAN'T do, and it goes on for pages and pages.

So I think I shall reward myself with a square. Or two ...

crocheted a lovely butterfly that I actually used as my angel's wings will post the pattern, it is beautiful. P
