Is it even legal to ask these potentially intrusive and unnecessary questions? Are they all going to St Ives?

NHS asks patients to choose from 12 genders, 10 sexual preferences and 159 religions
Some registering with the online portal before they attend appointments have said questions are bizarre, confusing and intrusive

If the whole reason behind this madness is because a software developer received a letter with a title of "Mr" that they didn't like... Surely the easiest solution would be to simply remove the archaic title system and just send letters to people by "Firstname Lastname"? A much easier software fix and less data to store.

I once got a letter from the nhs addressing me as Bishop Nellodee. I told them and they changed it, but I actually rather liked my new title. I wonder why they didn’t make sweeping changes at that point and only waited until now?

I came across abrosexual only today, and had to look it up. How is it different from bisexual, and why does the NHS want to know the sexuality of its workers anyway? How is this in any way relevant to their jobs? And what rights are they missing?
