Lisa Townsend Surrey PCC- communication of your view is important

A great interview on The Mess We're In this evening.

Lots of interesting points made. Even if The Mess We're In is not aligned to your own views, and you don't usually watch, I thought it would be useful to highlight a specific point Lisa made.

She has received a massive amount of communication since speaking out on this issue.

In this interview at 39:18 she talks about the requirement for her to submit the communications she gets (not including Twitter or personal email feedback, but letters, emails to her formal role, flowers etc) on this subject.

And that she is required to submit a full analysis for the Police and Crime Panel who monitor her work (who have received complaints about her).

Her office was required to submit the responses she had had, and the analysis was 10% against what she said, 90% in favour.

If you're ever doubting sending a card in support is futile - this should give you encouragement that it's not for nothing!

Worth watching (ref to Harry Miller from 2.34), don't men get cross when women say no 🙄

Couldn’t agree more @highame it’s absolutely enraging.

Apparently it’s worth the sums involved being diverted from actual policing and the Equality Act alone won’t do absolute garbage. All the time spent on virtue signalling whilst misogyny runs rife. The EA will do the job if followed correctly.

I hope those numbers are a salutary lesson to other PCC's 90 - 10 is one hell of a percentage

Im so pleased to hear this. I hope all the other PCCs are listening and now feel free to speak their minds on this issue.

Herts. He’s on that list offering support for you but won’t say he feels the same. I wrote to him sending a link to the previous article about Tory PCCs getting their forces out of Stonewall and got an incredibly mealy mouthed reply saying they have to stay in to make sure the force remains a good inclusive employer. Apparently it’s worth the sums involved being diverted from actual policing and the Equality Act alone won’t do Confused

@AnneLovesGilbert

Wonderful news Lisa Smile

I’d love to know if my PCC is secretly on the good side despite his flim flamming, I don’t suppose you could tell me?

I email him and ask him to be more like you but not sure where it’s getting me.

Where are you based?

@FindTheTruth

The Pride in Surrey crowd will be cross

excellent that misogynists will be cross

Maybe they will be cross "with force"?

I eagerly await their statement on the decision.

Brilliant news! The Pride in Surrey crowd will be cross, I'd put money on the majority of the complaints being a) made from a template and b) being connected to Pride in Surrey....but either way it doesn't matter.
Lisa Townsend spoke up for women and did nothing wrong in doing so.
