Artist 'FKA twigs' sues Shia LaBoeuf for domestic abuse

Reported in the New York Times, she describes a depressingly familiar pattern of abuse, which she kept quiet for a long time 'to protect his career', and from fear that she would not be believed. Her account is heartbreaking- she is incredibly brave to come forward. Any damages awarded will be donated to women's charities fighting domestic abuse.

Love FKA Twigs, amazingly talented.

Shia Le Beuof is just an embarrassing joke (albeit a dangerous one) He had sex with a woman during one of his "art" installations and tried to sue her for raping him.

Twigs has done an interview on this subject in Elle magazine. I think she's incredibly brave to speak out like this. That's real bravery.

Yes, wasn't Shia the worst celeb to be labelled "woke"? I am almost 100% certain that I first heard the term woke in relation to him.

@dervel that's an interesting point actually. I can think of 2 separate sets of brothers who grew up in households where the mum was physically abused by the dad. 3 out of 4 went on to be abusive to their gfs. 1 of the brothers went the complete opposite direction and actually went out with women who used and abused him. I recall one stomped on his head wearing heels and he took her back in a grovelling manner. In terms of abuse against children a few people I grew up with including myself experienced a range of mild to a bit more demented abuse and none of us are abusers thank god but we definitely all have dealt with alcohol abuse, problems maintaining relationships, anxiety and depression. A few of us have been in abusive relationships probably because of low self esteem issues and feeling that's what we deserved.

I recall me and my siblings as young adults confronting our parents about how they treated us and vowing never to hit our kids and they laughed mockingly as though we had no clue but guess what - none of us hit children! It's bloody unnecessary.

I'm very glad FKA chose to speak up. I hope it is as empowering and healing for her as it will be for women watching.

I’m doing some reading around all of this, and I’m noticing the contrast between Shia LeBeouf’s traumatic childhood and subsequent abusive behaviour towards other’s and Sir Patrick Stewart who I believe suffered similar and has been nothing but a champion of and advocate for domestics abuse victims his entirely life.

What is the X factor here that produces such a massively different outcome?

Shia LaBoeuf set up an an art installation protest type thingy in a gallery and outside in the street. It involved him, and fellow artists, jumping about and screaming "He will not divide us". It was quite an attraction but then some other New Yorkers set up a counter "art" protest in the same area and it ended up with them all screaming at each other for days on end and then LaBoeuf punched someone who I think, as it turned out, was one of his own side. He was arrested and carted off to the cells by the cops, and then later, to deter the other side, he put up a fence around his "art". A dividing line if you like.

Jesus Shock! I hadn’t heard about this. What a twat!!

@Beamur

I have a vague recollection of him previously dating another actress, Mia Goth and some public altercation being reported at the time.
Seems like he may have a long history of unpleasant behaviour towards women. Bet more will come forward.

That happened in Tuebingen, Germany, a friend studied there at the time which is why I remembered it.
There are videos of the incident on Youtube.

Also SIA is a bit of a shero to me as she adopted 2 kids who were nearly pushed out of the care system due to their age. I think she adopted them at 16/17 years old.

I am so pleased SIA also stepped up to the plate to support FKA Twigs.

She publically stated he was a pathological liar, who tricked her into a relationship saying he was single when he wasn't.

The fact he covered up what I am assuming is herpes, or genital warts, with make-up, so FKA could not see his STD, is absolutely vile.

As she said, he is a danger to ALL women.

I am glad she is doing this and for the reasons she stated.

But he did come across as very nasty back then and more than a bit weird as well

Do you mean Sia?

I think the pp meant Shia LaBoeuf. He is previously well known for his 'woke' activism in the USA

He's disgusting. He's always seemed like quite an arsehole

I remember him from a year or so. Screaming his head off in the street all the time about oppression, but he looked like a bully then.

Good. I had trouble sleeping when the news came out and kept refreshing twitter pages anticipating people blaming her for "wanting him cancelled" etc.

In EVERY single story of DV I've ever known up close and personal when the woman leaves she is met with a torrent of male and female supporters who make life hell, isolate and blame the survivor. I have seen it first hand and it happens every time so I've come to expect it. Very tribal and cruel.

Nothing on this thread evokes a LMFAO
and woke it’s a pejorative term to close down individuals.make out they’re opportunistic or fake
This is all very real.SLB has admitted he’s the perpetrator. It’s a shocking set of events and he brutalised Twigs
