Via Google, all the main charities, etc etc etc.

Am slightly worried it'll have an effect - hoping if they could spot a gamed consultation they'll spot this?Confused

Fair Play for Women now have their own version on their website. Unlike the other one, emails go to Liz Truss, and personal details are wiped at the end of each day Smile

I wonder if the DCMS commons select committee (chaired by Julian Knight MP) could be interested in hearing about Google doing this kind of political campaigning in the UK.

I’ve not seen the data consent arrangements so they may be fine but if campaign response emails are also automatically going to a third party (Gendered Intelligence) and unless it’s made abundantly clear upfront exactly what the data sharing arrangements will be, if anyone has individual data privacy concerns about that they can refer their situation to the ICO for advice. ico.org.uk/global/contact-us/

Shit, I I didn't even think of the having your personal details angle. I would definitely NOT trust any transactivist organisations with my details.

I am stunned! Not stunned that Google is playing a dirty misogynist trick, and trying to influence a foreign government with dishonest tactics. But stunned that they're doing it openly.

And the fact-free, logic-free verbiage continues at gra.good.do/trusstme/trusstme :

If we allow trans young people to be stripped of their agency to make decisions around their healthcare and around which toilets they're legally allowed to use, next on the chopping block will be wider rights around access to abortion and contraception.

Yes, because protecting women's sex-based rights is the first step to attacking women's sex-based rights....

My god. They don't even believe themselves, do they?

I've found their email address and requested they remove all of my information from their systems per GDPR. Bastards.

Report
FantaOra · 04/07/2020 17:24

I've found the whole thing on Twitter and they have now changed the address you are writing to. If you have sent one using this system since 2nd July it's likely genderedunitelligents will have deleted it.

This spamming isn't going to influence anyone. It's simply a repeat of the GRA consultation spamming which has already been flagged as inappropriate. Doing it again is simply out of control behaviour. Who do you think will be reading 50,000 emails? No one.

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 04/07/2020 17:11

What the eff? I had some time so changed the template and header, assuming this would go through directly to government. And now those people may be vetting my response and get my details 🤦‍♀️

In this brave new world they envision, guess I'll be due a visit to check my thinking and sent off for re-education then!

This back fires as campaign responses are grouped.

And it’s incorrect anyway, there is no “rollback on trans rights” so the Government could easily say ok, we won’t rollback trans rights but we will strengthen women’s rights.

When I looked into it I was actually quite shocked to find that trans people actually have MORE rights than women, I had assumed they had the same rights as everyone else but they have two protected characteristics under the EA (sex and gender reassignment) plus protection under hate crime laws that women don’t have. Although if women had protection under hate crime laws the prisons would be full!

The GI snippet says that they get a copy of submissions, not that they control which ones are submitted. Labour women seem to be saying this means "vetting" but actually all GI can do is read them after they are sent.

At least Lord Lucas recognises that all of the responses might need to be invalidated.

Tweet:

“ That they might have done this completely invalidates all submissions. They could all have been doctored.”

Hopefully this will be picked up on officially. How appalling.

They've shown their hand. The responses were not what they wanted - so now they're having to vet them, so that the govt only sees the responses that they want them to see. And they've announced that publicly!

The govt are well aware of this tactic, as a PP says, they sussed this out during the GRA consultation - they know that everyone from Stonewall etc were engineering responses.

It does make me smile, though, that my response sent on 30th June - saying support WOMEN"S rights, and asking why Google is interfering in UK politics - would have gone straight through Grin

good I'm glad that Gendered Intellience can see that I don't belive in this crap... I'm going to write to Liz Truss again though incase GI stopped my email going through though.

Gendered Intelligence hand in hand with yet another corporation / big business. They are busy aren't they in their desperation to eradicate women's identities and right?.
Funny how, no matter how many spineless companies capitulate to the trans bullying, more and more women and men are speaking out against the intimidation and shutting down of free speech.

TheSingingKettle49 · 04/07/2020 12:33

In a way though it’s good, because if they thought their argument was rock solid and the other side were just bigots then they wouldn’t need to vet the responses. The government will be aware that this is what has happened, they already dismissed the consultation findings because a high number were from trans activists.

Yeah I've done that too.

But all it is, is a email template - you can change the title though, so they'll see it's in support of women's rights.

Plus I'm sure I read somewhere that the govt doesn't accept mass e-mails of the same text.

I'm not convinced that replacing the words in their template is a good idea?

I doubt they will read them all, but will simply report then as X,000 responses in support.

Use the template for structure, but better to cut and paste your text into an email directly to Liz Truss/ your MP I think?

That's outrageous. Can we complain about this? Is it normal for US Corporations to so obviously try to influence UK government policy? Surely that's not OK?

I did as Sarah Phillimore suggested on twitter - swapped out trans rights for WOMEN'S RIGHTS - said that I hoped they would fulfil their promise to protect women's single-sex spaces - and questioned whether Google should be trying to influence UK politics.

And I did it in my own name and email address, because I'm just not scared anymore. I used to be scared of the TRA, and now I'm not.
